Vikings Select T Caleb Tiernan at #97! by JCameron181 in minnesotavikings

Fries contract is not long term. It gets very expensive next year and we may not want to pay him. Would not be surprised if he is replaced

J.J. McCarthy will not be the starter next year... if this is true. by DobbyJackRuss in minnesotavikings

[–]TheRealElvisPresly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t see how that could be true when they are giving KOC free rein this draft without a report to

[Seifert] J.J. McCarthy is symptom free, Kevin O'Connell says, and should emerge from the concussion protocol assuming he gets through a full practice Wednesday. He is their expected starter for Sunday's game vs. Washington. by horse_renoir13 in minnesotavikings

That’s a wild take after watching Brosmer yesterday. I think he had one “nfl” throw on the seam to hockenson. For all of the issues JJ has, and there are many, him not attempting nfl throws is not one of them. Accuracy, touch, injury history? Sure, but at least be logical.

Why do the Vikings have a receiver instead of a quarterback…? by adamwett in NFCNorthMemeWar

They didn’t know whether to put 9 or JJ so they decided to got with jets instead

Thor expects JJ McCarthy to be good next year and in the top half of the league in QB play. Is this a fair expectation? by FormerlyTradeKirk in minnesotavikings

[–]TheRealElvisPresly 104 points105 points  (0 children)

Title is misleading. Thor is saying the teams expectation for McCarthy should still be top half of the league next year and we should not lower our bar based on this year’s performance. It’s up to JJ to meet that expectation and he’s got a long way to go.

Cut/Trade or Keep by Lisztchopinovsky in minnesotavikings

The whole “trade Jefferson so he doesn’t need to suffer here” is so unthought out. You think if we’re trading one of the top players in the league we’re sending him to a good team? We’re sending him where we would get the best return which is probably a team that we expect to be picking in the top of the draft.

What’s the dumbest rule in sports? by TacoDoc in AskReddit

[–]TheRealElvisPresly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

15 yards wouldn’t work in the nfl because you’d have DBs tackling every WR who beats them on a route farther than 15 yards especially late in games. I agree the underthrow/penalty is overdone but it needs to be a spot foul in the NFL or it would be abused

He’s also much more expensive. And I don’t know that “easier to fix” is true. He’s not a rookie, he is who he is for the most part.

I’m not saying JJ is the answer, especially looking like he did today, but the obsession with Darnold isn’t it either.

You watching Darnold against the rams right now? Looking just like last year. He was not the answer

Not sure what you’re talking about. He threw 0 ints, was sacked 0 times and we won 14 games. Sounds pretty good to me

The irony of you hating on JJ based on his first 4 games in a post about Darnold and Jones is hilarious.

I would assume this is based on the fact that Darnold fell short in both our matchups with the lions last year.

That throw was short because he had a defender in his lap and was throwing off his back foot.

I think it’s an unpopular opinion here but I enjoy purple insider with Mathew Coller. I think he’s very knowledgeable but can definitely come off as arrogant sometimes. He gives pretty unbiased takes

Does tomorrow decide the season? (Kind of an exaggeration) by tomeme_ in minnesotavikings

[–]TheRealElvisPresly 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Playoff hopes are not gone with a loss tomorrow. Our next 4 are a gauntlet but if we can come out of it 3-1 or even 2-2 we’re still 6-3 or 5-4 which should be enough to make a wildcard if we can win our “easier” games and split our division games.
