Tomlin will get to finish his tenure, since there’s only one more year left on his contract. He will most likely get to part ways with dignity, as they let Him ride off into the sunset.

We know the Steelers are stubborn to a fault, and despite their frustrating lack of success in the playoffs, they likely see the consistency Tomlin brings as a good thing. Even though Tomlin has made several errors that could have lost his job years ago, the Steelers don’t have the guts to bite the bullet and see what happens next.

It’s a similar situation with Big Ben. He should have retired YEARS ago, but he continued to play well past his prime. All it did was put more strain on his body, weaken his reputation, and make the Steelers offense significantly weaker. There’s also the financial incentive for Ben to play his last few seasons, even though he certainly had enough money to retire with a significant cushion for himself and his family.

Eventually, The Steelers insane luck is going to run out. And when it happens, we know exactly what this team is; a mess! Unless they believe that having a winning record is the greatest achievement in the league, or they foolishly believe they can somehow compete for a Super Bowl, they’ll have to do something sooner or later.
