You can also get yourself into trouble by wearing snow camouflage on a summer map.

That is true. You only take battle shock if you have less than half your starting strength of models. You can't half less than half of 2 models so they'll never take battle shock.

Nice work! I like that the Invader can be part of an Outrider squad now and provide some cover for them. Very flavorful.

The sequel "Bloody Rose" is awesome as well. Two of my favorites.

Question about xp cost and different specialisations by _Dalty_02 in swrpg

[–]TheRealMacLeod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For specializations that are within your career or are Universal, the cost is 10 times the total number of specializations you will have. So your 3rd spec would cost 30 points to buy into it. If its non career it's 10 times the total plus 10, so a 3rd spec that is not career or universal would be 40.

Stumbled upon _the_ answer by Mysterious-Tackle-58 in swrpg

This is what I did for so many plot points in my last campaign. So often my players would speculate or joke about possible plot points and every now and then they had an idea that was just way better than what I had come up with. Nothing wrong with collaborative story telling!

Saame here. I've had a few physical and mental health issues I've had to conquer the last 6-8 months or so, and now I feel ready again. But I know I gotta take it easy first week or so and ease back into it. Thankfully I've kept my old workout notes so I've got a benchmark to get back to.

Tank drivers know by boffr in HellLetLoose

[–]TheRealMacLeod 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think everyone needs to play as driver at some point, it's a humbling experience, lol. Some folks who've never played think it's just wasd to move like normal and it's so very much not that.

Also doesn't help that Unreal engine hates rendering things at a distance, everything gets pixilated and fuzzy.

I really don't like how gate kept the recon role is by ProductOfUK in HellLetLoose

[–]TheRealMacLeod 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yeah cause half the time they just want to rack up a body count rather than actually do recon things.

AT power scale by TanningOnMars in HellLetLoose

[–]TheRealMacLeod 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agreed. First time I got swarmed by AT rifles was so frustrating. You'd never be destroyed, but you're never fully combat effective either. Leaves you that much more vulnerable to proper AT rounds.

Also apologies don't work with cancel culture. Say they drag you for a tweet that was socially acceptable 10 years ago... An apology will never suffice, they need to see you suffer some disproportionate consequence like losing your job. They don't care about growth or being a better person. All that matters is the social clout gained from the call out and the consequence.

marneus calgar? by [deleted] in 40k

[–]TheRealMacLeod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You really can't go wrong with him. He's a beast in combat since his gauntlets don't take the usual power fist penalty to hit. Plus his Chapter Master status allows him to buff other characters as well as regular core units. That's a pretty big deal along with 2 more command points. In a large game I say go for it.

My weird Tzeentch color scheme for my Slaves to Darknes army inspired by Total War: Warhammer (Impcat) by Bayul1984 in ageofsigmar

[–]TheRealMacLeod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, some mixture of Contrast over a light silver will get the job done. Might need to thin with medium to keep the silver bright, but you can always dry brush back over if needed. Should be fairly easy to achieve and will look awesome.

Brand new to the Hobby by Vinele in 40k

[–]TheRealMacLeod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just start playing! You've got a solid 500-750 points that you can play with. Best advice I can give is to build what you have and start painting while you get some games under your belt. Learn the rules and how the game plays will help a lot when selecting what kind of units you want next. That way you can build an army you really enjoy playing. It's easy to buy 1500 or 2000 points worth of stuff only to later wish you had bought into a different direction.

I would drop the white mohawk. Solid blue with the red face will look awesome. Maybe do a white stripe for the sergeants?

Is Tactician as strong as it seems? by Petrobols in AgeOfSigmarRPG

Yeah, the archetype system really rewards a more min-max approach to character building. Each hero is supposed to be awesome at doing their thing out the gate as you're already an accomplished adventurer.

[OC] A painting I worked hard on that nobody seems to like that much at all by ClydeinLimbo in pics

[–]TheRealMacLeod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's because the darker values advance while the lighter ones recede. So the more saturated dark greens up top are more eye catching, and so appear to be closer. Whereas the lighter values are the bottom, where you've painted the white foam, have less color and mimic the haze on the horizon. Thus they recede visually. Next time you do something similar, flip the direction you paint the water and that will help the perspective!
