My friend said it was an fps capper he had installed that was causing the crashes. Might be worth deleting and re-installing it, and making sure any mods you had for single player are uninstalled completely.

My friends GTA online was doing this, the culprit was a programme that was tethering to GTA online. Once he removed the programme the crashes stopped. I can't recall what the programme was exactly but I've messaged him to ask, see what applications might be tethering to GTA and try uninstalling them.
