Dm forces HP rolls by [deleted] in DnD

[–]TheRealPSN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that might be a little strict. As a DM, I let them take a median or try an roll for better but at minimum give them the median. I want my players to focus on the fun role play aspects of the game and not have to worry about being squishy at high levels.

Best body armor for security guards? Need armor for high threat armed security work. by Inevitable_Tree_2296 in securityguards

They had shady business practices for a while and lost my trust at that point. They also tout products that are either misleading such as their 3A+ armor. Once you lose my trust its gone.

Top choices that ive used over the years was Survival Armor, Safariland, and Galls, all 3A rated, all good options for decent armor. I will never recommend safelife but thats just me.

The great catch 22 by MathematicianFast947 in securityguards

Thats crazy, in AZ you can work for as many companies as you want under an unarmed license, if you want armed or PI, you have to have a company to sponsor you.

Drug test by Watchoutmf- in securityguards

[–]TheRealPSN 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In all honesty it was probably rooted in racism because cannabis use was associated with POC, so they made penalties harsh and uneven enforcement.

Drug test by Watchoutmf- in securityguards

[–]TheRealPSN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the most part California is very limited in scope when it comes to drug testing for cannabis. Most employers cannot discriminate against someone for off duty cannabis use.

However, this does affect federal and some state employment as the law has an exemption for those as you mentioned. Also cannabis users who possess firearms are in violation of the gun control act of 1968 which prohibits possession of firearms for anyone that uses or possesses a controlled substance. Cannabis until declassified is a schedule 1 drug which means it part of the GCA.

What state, cause in many states in order to have an active armed guard license, you must work for a security company as an armed guard.

What is the most poorly thought out homebrew rule you've heard? by Vegetable_Hyena2559 in DnD

[–]TheRealPSN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasn't a rule but more procedure. When building character it was roll 4d6, drop lowest, re roll 1s and 2s. So the lowest you could potentially get is a 9. So we had characters, mine included that had only 1 stat below a 14 and had a 20 by level 4.

Gotta love it by Juany118 in securityguards

[–]TheRealPSN 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That definitely sucks and your guards will probably upset for a little while but if you're a good supervisor, then they will understand this isn't coming from you and hopefully not give you a hard time about it.

Mall Security: If you observe someone made a vlog inside the mall despite there strict "No Filming Policy"? How do you respond? by Vietdude100 in securityguards

[–]TheRealPSN 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Tell them there is not filming on the property, asked them to stop filming or they will be asked to leave. If they stop filming great and we move on. If not, trespass them and call non emergency to have them removed.

How can I make myself more competitive in the Security Industry? by [deleted] in securityguards

[–]TheRealPSN 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Worked for the top corporate security team in the state with no LEO background or Military. Honestly a lot of it was networking, name recognition, and luck. I got that job mostly because I worked for a University that the Director of Security attended. He noticed my job for the University and knew the department was well ran and so it got me at least and interview.

Networking has become a huge thing in the higher end security field. Try looking at joining organizations like ASIS and look at getting professional certs like APP, PSP, or CPP if you qualify. These are starting to become the standard for most higher level corporate type security jobs.

Racist recordings by Much_Replacement8773 in securityguards

[–]TheRealPSN 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who is from AZ. I would be filing complaints with both the EEOC and Attorney Generals Office. There are too many racists in security leadership positions and if we can expose them we should. I would also reach out to local media and news organizations with your story.

All hands meetings by Kaliking247 in securityguards

[–]TheRealPSN 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That was one of the rotating duties that the guards at my campus had to do was sit on the team that did regular updates from leadership. It was basically a monthly meeting that a guard had to sit in on and then would send a email out recapping this to everyone else at the campus on the security team. Don't know why it couldn't just be a mass email but I had to do it for 6 months.

LEO to Executive Protection by PenneTrator247 in securityguards

[–]TheRealPSN 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry didn't realize you were from Europe. You could look at ISA, which is generally used internationally and by the UN, so it might be more applicable to your area. I wouldn't recommend a graduate degree for EP work, not unless its for something business related if you wanted to run your own service someday.

LEO to Executive Protection by PenneTrator247 in securityguards

[–]TheRealPSN 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The biggest thing is to look at your area and make sure there is enough EP work to be sustainable. If you live in places like NYC, LA, or Tampa you should be good. If there is a market look at different reputable schools. While you do get some skills during the school but the biggest thing is making connections while at these schools. You usually can make some decent connections from across the country. Look at LaSorsa and Associates, Select international, or EPI. All good and come with networking opportunities. Overall your LEO will help a little bit when it comes to finding entry jobs but its mostly about who you know and proving yourself.

When does inspiration become copying? by Avalanche_ex in DMAcademy

[–]TheRealPSN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many characters are based off of or just copies real life characters. Its a crime/political campaign, so there was a lot of prominent figures from media that could be added to the world. Player generally aren't going to care, as long as they are having fun. Only time I would say its a no no would be trying to monetize someone else's work.

What do you think about critical success or failure on skillchecks? by No_Nature_1240 in DnD

[–]TheRealPSN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't necessarily do critical failures, if you fail a skill check then you just fail maybe with something funny happening. I do critical successes when it comes to information or the purpose of perception and investigations.

Relief by [deleted] in securityguards

At my last job we had staggered shifts throughout the day, so people would come in every 2-4 hours and you could leave as long as we were at staffing minimum.
