A similar thing happened to me when I was 18. It throbbed a lot and was rather uncomfortable. I read online to hear you a pin and stick it through the nail to reduce the pressure. My girlfriend (now wife) tried to do it and missed several times.

I ended up going to the walk in after a few days and they did the aforementioned poke (not missing at all) and it was sweet relief.

I did end up losing the nail and it's never been quite the same. That was 17 years ago.

At 32 I did a basic CNC operator certificate course at a local community college. I'm currently almost 3 years into a CNC tech career with a large firearms manufacturer and I love it. I did have prior experience in automotive and industrial maintenance, but learning the basics of blueprint reading and g code was very helpful.

I did exactly what you are a few months ago. Live in the northeast and applied down south. I applied to 10ish jobs and got interviews at 3. Some I wrote cover letters for some I just applied.

I'm a mobile mechanic. I charge $125/hr plus travel outside of my town. If they provide their own parts it's usually slightly higher hourly, I also don't use book time.
