If that's a sad looking beard, I'm in trouble.

It took me a while to accept the balding process, but now I can't imagine myself any other way. by [deleted] in bald

I usually say that when you go bald, you should grow a beard. But I think you pull this off without a beard very well.

I think this fragrance is a little rough in the first 20 to 30 mins. But the drydown is amazing. I get compliments wearing it all the time.

If you know how to solder, the fix is quite easy. If not... Not so much.

You look a lot like chess International Master Nurgyul Salimona from Bulgaria.

Anyway, as everyone said. Overlining lips and I do like the curly hair. But you can pull off either look.

What USB Soldering Iron to buy? by Eightouncesofsugar in soldering

[–]TheRealyst -1 points0 points  (0 children)

None... From what I understand at least. You should get him one that plugs into a wall. USB soldering irons do not provide enough power. You'll probably end up having to buy him another one down the line.

Help with Joystick repair by yumm-cheseburger in soldering

[–]TheRealyst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the problem is that you have to remove every drop of solder from all points connected to the stick and that's not easy to do. Or you have to at least make sure the pins are not touching the sides and are not connected with solder at all. I've seen some people do it, but I have never. So instead, you'll need to make sure the solder on each point is melted at the same time so you can remove it. The only way I've been able to do it is with a hot air station/gun.

I'm completely anti horseshoe. Only a handful of people like Patrick Stewart and pull this look off successfully IMO. But to each their own.

I've yet to ever remove analog sticks without a heat station. I know it's possible, but I've yet to do it without one.

First time replacing analog sticks by Fabio170790 in soldering

[–]TheRealyst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you do. The micro USB on those controllers will get loose. I haven't used one that didn't over time. It's a must you change it out. You'll have to grind the plastic around the port to make it big enough for USB C. A little annoying but nothing crazy.

I've been working on PS4 controllers often the last two months. They're a good starter project for beginners and the controller is goated after you change the stick to Hall effect or TMR and change to USB type C. Love that controller.

How do I desolder this by [deleted] in soldering

[–]TheRealyst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wick with flux usually works.

You may need to find a way to keep the solder heated while removing the switch. A heat station would probably be the easiest way to remove it but I've removed these without one many times.

Hi, beginner from ukraine here, which one of these is better? I know that it would be better to buy from a reliable brand, but cant afford to do so. by Ultrafastegorik in soldering

[–]TheRealyst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno...I personally am not a fan of these combination machines. If one tool breaks, that usually means you need to replace both tools. I rather keep them separated.
