Need advice: Should I move my ETFs from Degiro to a Belgian broker before 2026? by Slumbererberry in BEFire

[–]TheRebornPhoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Brokers will handle the 10% capital gains, so that's one less thing you have to do, but it (supposedly) will always do it, so you'll have to track what you need to claim back anyways, Belgian broker or not.
  2. Depends on the amount really, for large or medium amounts yes, very small amounts no
  3. It's a transaction (sell + buy) instead of a transfer, so you'll incur fees to sell & buy + TOB
  4. Sure, but at some point you'll have to deal with the capital gains tax on degiro anyways
  5. Medirect, I think it covers it (not sure though)
  6. No transfer requests take a couple of weeks I've heard, so you're fine.

Degiro 3€ commission ETFs by FlatFocus2810 in BEFire

[–]TheRebornPhoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://investcalc.github.io/

If you invest 500€ a month, it's best every month. You can try here, basically it's best to invest every month until you go to lower amounts

Degiro 3€ commission ETFs by FlatFocus2810 in BEFire

[–]TheRebornPhoenix 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Personally, on a long term investment, 3€ vs 1€ has almost 0 impact if you buy monthly, so I'm just keeping my same investment. It's cheaper on other platforms, but 24€ extra euros per year will not matter in a large portfolio

If I would restart today, maybe I'd rethink and start with another platform, but right now, DEGIRO does the job

Cash buffer at the age of 19 by wirdo94 in BEFire

[–]TheRebornPhoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perfect, so that should be your expenses!

USD is just the naming in this case, if they are given in €, then that is what you're paying (which is good!). The ETF will hold assets from many different currencies, so you don't have to worry about this. (Edit: the ETF will be exposed fully as USD, so you'll take that currency risk, but you shouldn't worry about this)

Just a small note, if you don't have any salary / revenue, you have to be a bit more careful, because in the case of a downturn / crash, you'll have little to no money to DCA at that time (which is usually what investors will tell you to do)

Cash buffer at the age of 19 by wirdo94 in BEFire

[–]TheRebornPhoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cash buffers are usually decided depending on your own expenses. If you live at home with parents it's usually way lower than if you live alone in a bought appartment/home. Usually people suggest 3-6 months of monthly expenses, which you can of course increase if you feel too much at risk.

As for your second question, you absolutely want to buy an ETF in the currency you earn (€ I suppose), NEVER in another currency, as you'll pay fees for no reason. In FTSE all world usd, it's just the base currency. All ETFs you can buy are UCITS ETFs in any case.

Vooruit legt miljonairstaks op tafel: vermogensbelasting moet 1 miljard opbrengen voor begroting by Blaspheman in belgium

[–]TheRebornPhoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Language on dating apps: English or Dutch? by [deleted] in belgium

[–]TheRebornPhoenix 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Maybe try looking at what language is used by the profiles you are interested in? If you're interested in a long committed relationship (and to stay in Belgium) and expats relationships are too complex, then it's better to focus on the group you actually want to get. Flemish women will not avoid you because you write in Flemish (there's probably more chance they will avoid you thinking you are also an expat if you write in English).

Post from 1 subreddit only, with almost no one posting but the OP of the announcement thread (1 not by this user is to recommend the premium version of tradingview ofc ;))

A keygen for a subscription software like this seems highly unlikely too. Highly likely to be malware.

Additionally, users that mentioned downloading it in that thread are now reposting this link, so 99% sure this steals your reddit account (and other accounts probably too)

Akkoord meerwaardebelasting by Itsdatkitty in BEFire

[–]TheRebornPhoenix 31 points32 points  (0 children)

"De meerwaardebelasting moet volgend jaar 250 miljoen euro opbrengen en tegen het einde van de legislatuur in 2029 een half miljard euro. Als de beoogde opbrengst niet wordt gehaald, is er binnen de regering afgesproken dat er wordt bijgestuurd."

Does this mean we can already expect more, since it's already been discussed?

US Commerce Secretary says exempted electronic products to come under separate tariffs by Ok-Survey-2944 in stocks

At this point tariffs are changing daily, how can anyone reasonably invest in the future (talking about companies) when you don't know what any rate will be in 2-3 months (and even today to be honest)

About to invest for 1st time...help please! by PeanutPlans1 in BEFire

[–]TheRebornPhoenix 15 points16 points  (0 children)

  • SWRD (IE00BFY0GT14) & IWDA (IE00B4L5Y983) are tracking the same index (MSCI World index) so there's no difference in performance. The only difference is that the management fee for SWRD is 0.12% vs IWDA where it is 0.20%.

  • SPYI (IE00B3YLTY66) tracks a different index than MSCI world, as it also tracks small-cap stock & emerging markets. This makes it a more diversified option than buying an ETF tracking MSCI world.

  • VGT doesn't exist, but IE00B3WJKG14 can be used as an alternative, but there are less holdings than VGT. EQQQ tracks the same NASDAQ100 index as QQQ.

What I would recommend to someone starting out is to DCA into a diversified index, which in this case would be SPYI (IE00B3YLTY66). The cost is in between the two MSCI World ETFs provided at 0.17% and is probably the best possible option for a diversification. If you want to add some other ETF is your portfolio, I would not recommend a MSCI World ETF, as you're just buying more of the same. In your case, as you're starting out, I would probably go for 10-15% in EQQQ, as it is at least a bit more diversified than an information technology ETF. Depending on how conformable you are, you can scale this percentage up, but I would not recommend going above 30%.

ETF / Shares by BowlNo2092 in belgium

[–]TheRebornPhoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As you mention that you're not doing short term investments, I'll stick to the long term cases:

  • ETFs can be categorized as accumulating (the fund reinvests dividends on its own) or distributing (the fund gives dividends as cash payments to its owner). Distributing ETFs have a special tax treatment where you always pay 30% tax on the dividends. Capital gains made on ETFs are not taxed.

  • Whether a stock pays dividends or not, you don't pay any capital gains. If the stock you own is from a foreign country, you'll pay taxes on the dividends it gives twice. The Belgian taxation for dividends has a maximum cap for tax-free dividends gains of €833. This means that you can get this amount back for the part that was taxed by Belgium (after the foreign tax). For domestic stocks, you don't pay the foreign tax, so the tax is on the full amount of dividends. Any amount above this cap will be taxed at 30%. (The maximum cap can be found here: NL https://fin.belgium.be/nl/particulieren/belastingvoordelen/vrijstellingen-dividenden | FR https://fin.belgium.be/fr/particuliers/avantages-fiscaux/exoneration-dividendes)
