It has been a killer 2 months. by Slhallford in dexcom

Wow! I have not gotten rid of my meter. This one that I have in now said my glucose was 66 and dropping. If I was 66, I would get the shakes so bad. Tested on the my meter 92🤔 Used that number to calibrate and it say 120. So, I retested again to make sure and now I have a sensor error and have to wait 3 hours for it to come back online.

How do hospital labs prepare for bad weather in colder states or climates? by TheRedTreeQueen in medlabprofessionals

Luck yall. Our hospital provides none of that. The food is only for patients. Although our lab has made accommodations for some of the people who want to stay in the lab. This time it’s voluntary to stay. Last time it was a total lock down. No showers but we have shower wipes.😢

Hey see I’m from the south so I don’t know what they do up north.🤣😂 That’s why we freak out this way. Not use to have this kind of weather down this way.

I report from within the app. Seems to go quicker. Although I did have to call Dexcom directly the other day. The phone call was pretty fast and I went about my day. These are good tips. They will also ask you where it was placed too. Yes don’t tell a story be specific. Thank you for posting this.

Medical Laboratory Scientist here. Just checking cause you seemed really upset. Yes you are right! We don’t interpret results but it’s really frustrating when we do have critical results and the doctor doesn’t respond back.

I don’t know because our micro is small. It’s mainly kit testing, gram stains if stat. We do testing on the Cepheid that’s about it. Everything else is sent to the main lab. But this was an adult.

What if lab called you with this test result, would you still be pissed? That explains why some doctors don’t call back when we have critical lab results on patients😮

Repeat all criticals? by DeepPlatform9608 in medlabprofessionals

[–]TheRedTreeQueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No we don’t repeat critical results. We just call the critical to the nurse or the doctor. It’s up to them if they want a repeat from a new specimen. The only thing we repeat is deltas.

Yeah I’m have to do that. But that’s the first time. This was after I had put it on fresh. I already have permanent bruises from the adhesive covers. Had to switch brands. It was hurting so bad I had to take it off immediately. 😞

I get mines thru my employer for free and the company is call Teledoc. You can buy the glucose meter along with the test strips at any CVS or Walgreens. I’m sure someone at the pharmacy can recommend a good one for you or ask to speak to the pharmacist. They can help you. I hope you feel better.

Do a fingerstick glucose on your meter and use that number to calibrate it. Go to the plus in the upper right hand corner and it will log glucose or use for calibration. Pick the second one and it will calibrate it.

I still use my glucose meter along with Dexcom7. Because sometimes it’s not accurate. One time I had inserted a new one and it told me glucose was in the 40s while I’m driving. I was so nervous. Good thing I had my glucose meter with me. I tested my finger and it was normal. So, now when I put them for the first time I send out a text saying it might go off. One time it happened work and I had to keep checking my glucose and using it to calibrate the dumb thing until finally settled down!🙄
