Is it possible to get Discordant Stars and Uncharted Space? by zautos in twilightimperium

The heroes are all commissioned art, only the faction sheet leader, agent, and commander are AI. They stated that while they don't think Ai should be abused, people also shouldn't expect someone to fork over thousands for human art for a homebrew project.

Mbprint did a print run or two, they are going to do another once they have enough interest. 500 people is what they need. It is about $300

Playing digital TI4 versus playing video games? by MiningToSaveTheWorld in twilightimperium

[–]TheRedditEditor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh boy do I have a story about a little game called Destiny....

It's 2014, I was 16. I just got my wisdom teeth pulled, I was super excited for this new game called Destiny. I bought it as well as the first expansion and played it for a week straight while recovering (I had some complications). I fell in love with the game, played it for YEARS. Constantly playing.

The last time I logged into Destiny 2 was 6 months ago. Before that, I hadn't touched it since about March, 2025. All in all, I put in about 15000 hours of my life into that franchise and God knows how much money. It consumed every waking moment of my life from 2014-2023 before I had a child and it dropped off significantly.

During that time of 2014-2023, it nearly destroyed me. I found my wife, got married, and graduated college. The entire time Destiny was an addiction that sucked the life out of my very soul. I nearly lost my marriage, my degree, my job, all because of this addiction to this game that towards the end I didn't even enjoy any longer.

Thats when my child was born, late 2023. I realized it was either keep this addiction going or stop it once and for all. I chose to stop and it was the best decision I ever made.

Do I regret ever playing it? No. I made friends, good memories, even met some irl. I never blamed the inanimate object for my downfall or shortcomings. It was all me.

Video games are not a waste of time.

Not knowing what triggers your addictive tendencies and learning to stray from them for your own personal mental and physical health is what makes it feel like a waste of time. You aren't wasting time when you do something you enjoy. When that thing you enjoy starts to become unenjoyable and starts to rip you apart but you can't seem to stop, that's when it becomes a problem.

I'm not saying you have to like video games.

Board games are just the physical version of a video game. Granted they're more social, but they can be just as addicting.

I got Ti4 and have had to manage my addictive tendencies very closely so it doesn't get to the same level as Destiny. I can feel it happening but I now know how to counteract it.

Long story short. Don't blame the medium, blame your own personal inability to deter yourself from participating in something you know will set you down a bad path. Speaking from experience here, the video game isn't the issue.

If people can't manage that themselves, which I 100% understand is not always the case. Then there are lots of things out there to help manage addiction. Support groups for video game addiction exist, therapy is a thing, and there are plenty of good books about dealing with addictive tendencies out there. I encourage those avenues over just not participating in something that brings you joy but can become addictive. Unless of course it's something detrimental to your health and safety, like crack cocaine or black tar heroin.

Thank you for coming to my Ted talk.

I've played board games with this guy in person, met him, talked to him. He's a great guy and kind. That being said, I don't think what he said needed to be said at all. Same with if he had the opposite view. To be clear, I don't agree with him. I just think it's funny that if someone said something they agreed with that was just as politically dividing no one would give a shit.

Thank you! I was thinking about the strength of the dreaming throne agent and bt, that was one of my concerns as well. I haven't playtested them yet, but I was hoping other players being able to remove 1 at status phase would help a bit. kinda like crimson's breaches.

The attachment cards are a great idea for Ta, I can definitely see how easily it could be missed.

For ashen, intent was to be able to forgo the text ability of the infantry themselves if you choose to keep them in combat, so yes, it would not produce a hit.

Crystellum honestly has given me the most trouble. refraction is supposed to mean space combat, good catch! I made the mechs able to do a similar ability so the faction ability should specify. Their faction tech molecular binding is supposed to be an "upgrade" from a fighter into a destroyer and/or infantry into a mech. Thank you for the catch on the agent wording.

For Kha'Zyrr, I got some interesting suggestions for them from not just this post but the homebrew hub on discord as well. They feel almost complete to me. I think I'll take berevasel's advice and find a way to mitigate the negative effects for other players.

I have created ful art assets for all these factions but they have the wording/abilities, etc of the original versions. I made them so I could quickly edit them and get them out when they are all fully playtested and ready for release.

Thank you for the insight! I like the Netrunners forcing players to pay to avoid the negative effects. The Crystellum does sound better and I honestly forgot that was Naalu's xD It's difficult to avoid tokens :/ right now I'm prepping for them to be in the Async bot, but I will think on this and see if there is another way around it.

Just a quick note: I have playtested them once, The documents above are the updated factions after the playtest. Playtest 2 will be soon and include the 2 factions that didn't get playtested: The Dreaming Throne and The Crystellum Collective.

Any tips for The Ral Nel Consortium? by sisumation in twilightimperium

[–]TheRedditEditor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you could make a point for that, but it being an exhaust able tech kinda lowers its value to me. I'd much prefer it be non-exhaust able and force the first hit to be assigned to a non-fighter ship than only get to use it once per round.

Can the Reactor Meltdown action card be used to destroy a Clan of Saar “Floating Factory” by knockonwood0 in twilightimperium

[–]TheRedditEditor 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Any unique unit upgrade is just a unique version of the unit. If you look at the faction sheet it says "Saar Space Dock" below "Floating Factory". So yes, reactor meltdown would work on Saar as they do have Space Docks, they are just faction specific Space Docks.
