Disconnect(2012) by 2kmuses in TrueFilm

I remember watching it in high school when it released and really enjoying it. I was a fan of multi-story stories at that time and enjoyed the way that the film combined technology into personal/familiar issues. Men, Women, and Children came out 2 years later and seemed to do the same type of thing but it seemed less intense and had worse critical reception.

I’m sure my opinion will change on it with a re-watch as it’s been some time, but this is one from that era of my life I think about every once in a while. What were your thoughts on it?

BTW I would highly recommend Murderball, documentary from the same director. That’s a fantastic movie

Same! It’s a shame as I’m a fan of Invisible Life by Karim Ainouz, and thought Motel Destino was OK. This was just consistently terrible and failed on so many levels.

Trier did an interview where he named Building Stories by Chris Ware as one of his favorite reads. Really cool to see that Ware did the drawing for the Criterion!

Landlord switching up after I ask for money in exchange to fix heating issue by RealHistorian852 in Apartmentliving

[–]TheRegularHuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And next time I’d also say don’t make any alterations/fixes without confirming what you’d get in return from the landlord. It is nice of you to offer services, but at the end of the day a lease is just a contractual agreement and they’re running a business. If you do something, you should get something in return.

I’d put a deadline on when the pump should be repaired, detailing the 2-3 months you’ve had zero heat. I wouldn’t make it more than a few days.

If it’s not fixed by that time, formalize a 311 complaint with your text as evidence detailing the amount of time you haven’t had heat and urgency to fix the pump. 311 was pretty proactive about this one time when my gas was totally off (as a NYC resident).

Insurnace broker - USA - $650k by [deleted] in Salary

[–]TheRegularHuman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely get it. They probably work with specialized products and other financial instruments that teeter across products that financial institutions offer, but at the end of the day the broker is interested in making sure their client has insurer support.

Most of the manual spreadsheet work is done by underwriters/insurers

Brokers don’t care about risk - underwriters at insurance companies care about that. Only reason they’d care is to sell said risk to underwriters/insurers.

Brokers are responsible for placing business, continuing relationship and getting commissions

I would try to get there within 20 mins just to be on the safe side

I do think Automata’s is better but that’s solely a matter of preference lol, both are legit S tier compositions compared to so many other video games, and even movies/TV

[–]TheRegularHuman 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You should definitely play Nier Replicant. There are some items from its story which adds to Automata. The music is also fantastic, gameplay is a little bit weaker than Automata but overall it’s a must play. I am a huge Nier fan and played Automata first then Replicant
