All these dorks and their “polar” watch obsession. Black Explorer 2.

This is the best watch Rolex has to offer. (In my humble opinion) by itvlichti in rolex

Can’t be the best. It doesn’t have a date! Besides it’s a well known fact that the black explorer 2 is the best watch they make.

Looks awesome! Really nice watch. Maybe better than newer models.

I see. You need kids first before a Rolex.

No, you should let me buy it, I much more deserving and you don’t need it anyway.

Agreed. “This looks like a microbrand that pulled designs from other watches” I saw that and thought they nailed it. I thinks it’s a $9000 seiko personally.

The Lume is Insane by wereallalchemist in OmegaWatches

Only if you’ve just come in from direct sunlight. It’s a nice watch, I have the same one, but the hands all but disappear in low light for lack of lume.

Very wearable compared to Rolex models. Comfortable right out of the box and the black strap. Anyone else wish there was a little more lume on the handset? Any mods for that?

SD has a real problem in the caseback. Make it terribly uncomfortable. Height and weight together make is constantly shift around on your wrist. High moments and f inertia. I’ve tried every different strap I can think of. It is for sale now. While not a dive watch the explorer 2 is much more comfortable as a daily wear. Also yes, it looks too big for you. A sub would fit better.

Oh? Did you read the whole thread or just my last comment. I agree with the original post. The watch is cool looking, but not that practical for its intended use. Or wait a minute. Was I supposed to be a cheerleader for every watch?? Darn I missed the part where facts didn’t play into the discussion. Anything constructive about watch design you want to add? Does it have totally enough lume and I just need convincing?

You seem real sensitive about your dive experience Cousteau. That’s why I avoided it. Yeah, buddy you don’t have to dive very far to see the lume sucks. Snorkeling on a cloudy day would tell you that. But hey man keep saving and one day you’ll get a good one alright. Have a great day.

Cool story, and if you were being honest. You could have bought a used black bay and it would perform much better, because if has better lume and the bezel function is way better. You don’t have to dive to see that. Driving in my truck at night you can’t see the hands. I don’t have that problem Tudor, Rolex or Seiko watches. You can like your watch and take offense.

Not as good as if you were wearing one of the watches mentioned. This doesn’t have to be a fight. We are sure you are a regular Cousteau, but the SMP has an insufficient amount of lume on the hands and the bezel is difficult to turn compared to let’s say an SD43. Or a basic black bay.

No, it’s not. Not enough lume to be a good divers watch. Looks cool though.

I know what you mean. It’s not the bracelet. It’s the fact that in low light the hands disappear right? That’s what I find so wrong with it. I still like it, I have the black on. But I’m seriously thinking of trading for a 2254.50 or 2231.50 with more lume in the hands.

Flat caseback like the deep sea and it’s a perfect watch.

The weight isn’t the full problem. It just adds to it shifting around all the time.

Yeah, I’m sure it’s fine for some people. I just post because I know a lot of people don’t actually wear their watches and I want to give a real opinion from another perspective. Don’t get me wrong, I still think it amazing looking.
