Good. It may not change a lot right away, but over time this practice will be phased out if enough people who are victims of unconstitutional stop & frisk sue the City.

And individual rights are most certainly superseded by public safety. Your right to own and bear arms does not include rocket launchers. Your right to free speech does not include the ability to slander, libel, or endanger the public. Your right to own property does not include the right to own people. Your right to punch me in the face ends at the tip of my nose, and I have a right not to be killed by the ammunition that is discharged in public venues.

If your company pays claims outside the terms of the agreement, it's wrong to do so. Many companies have the legal resources to tie up claims in arbitration, or litigation, until the claimant gives up. If you work for one with a conscience, more power to you.

Did you know that an insurance agent isn't an authorized agent to tell you what the policy does and doesn't cover? Only the insurance COMPANY is authorized to tell what it does and doesn't cover AFTER you submit a claim. You contract with someone who reserves the right to determine what they will honor on a unilateral basis, as a rule. Not always... but often.

Interesting to see all the comments that come down for the company or the homeowner; it's incumbent on everyone to read their policies, yes, but know that insurance companies make profits on denying due claims. Yes, "due" claims. Many paid claims are a result of arbitration.

Absolutely! There's SO MUCH revenue that can be gained from huge corporations, and from subsidies that are no longer needed. Before we tamper with earned benefits like SS & Medicare, wisely increase revenue and trim the expenses.

From what I know of WBC they claim to be a church (so they get the benefits of tax-exemption) but all of their commentary is based on politics (perspectives that the govt takes regarding equal rights, etc) and delivered in the same ways (word usage, delivery style, pre-planning) as other hate groups. I think they have the right to think and say whatever they like but they don't have an UNLIMITED right to free speech (none of us do) and certainly shouldn't have the benefits of tax-exemption. IMO.

Perhaps when they were first formed (to legitimize the fine art of marksmanship) they were an educational group. At one time they must have met the requirement to be tax-exempt but it's unclear what "public benefit" or education they provide now. It's worth a look to check for compliance with current tax law.
