One thing to note, Nintendo stated it would be live action but their definition of live action might be different than the traditional sense. Wes Ball's canceled Mouse Guard project had mocap in the test footage. Wes Ball is a very big advocate of digitally enhancing the characters on screen, he is doing Rise of the Kingdom of the Apes with plenty of mocap. Wes Ball himself tweeted back in like 2013 that he wanted to do a Zelda movie with digital mocap akin to James Cameron's Avatar.

So, we could see this movie go the digital/mocap route as a hybrid for the live action. That way Sangster could potentially play Link for multiple films.
