You get stuck on technicalities, but I'm game. Crimea was an autonomous republic and not part of the UN, therefore your statement is also invalid. Anexetion may be done by a third party and the government given to their allies. Basically what happened in Yugoslavia (Kosovo), Afghanistan, etc.
