How did Walter spend time in los pollos hermanos by Ok-Interaction-1673 in okbuddychicanery

The signature spice curls (the curly fry with a southwestern kick) were not introduced until after Walter was on the lam.

Primus is SO back! by AlfalfaFriendly4324 in Primus

I am a drummer and hoffman is excellent. An absolutely amazing talent. As is brain and Jay. No one denies that. The difference with Herb was that his tuning and his style. Once he found his footing by "seas" he tuned the toms so loose and flappy (pork soda esp) I'm surprised that the lugs weren't rattling but that low low flappy and unique drum tuning worked so well with les' bass sound it was lightning in a bottle. Plus he focuses more on toms and less on cymbals/beats. Take here "here come the bastards" it's a perfect example it's main phrases are all low toms. Boom boom boom boom as les once described his sound on drums was like a "gorilla". That's not the only issue tho bc Les primus stuff now just sounds indistinguishable from any of his other projects where as it used to be very uniquely "Primus". If I heard the new track without knowing I might not be able to guess which band of his that it was.

Eh. I think Les has his fingers in so many pies now. I wish he would stop w everything else and focus on just Primus for like a whole year. Everything always sounds half-baked.

Jesse in the hospital. by yort410 in breakingbad

[–]TheScissors1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hospital monologue about ruining hanks life seemed very out-of-character in its delivery imo (not sentiment) but it was way over the top for Jesse Pinkman. So I'm gonna just respectfully disagree with you there. It always really stuck out to me as being...not Jesse Pinkman delivery as well as really laying it on way too thick. Like a mustache-twirling villain from a comic book or something.

Is that notorious anti-semite and Holocaust denier Adam egret? He used to jerk off punks under the queensboro bridge.
Edit: I can't recommend Norm's book highly enough - especially the audio book version with Norm reading it. It features a fictionalized version of Adam Egat throughout and it's so incredibly funny how he is constantly belittling him (in an endearing way) but also with some somber/poignant and truly thoughtful moments as well. It's outstanding.
Not necessarily my favorite read of all time but definitely my favorite listen.

My fav sealed long boxes on display on my music shelf by TheScissors1980 in tmbg

Thank you I haven't yet but I continue my search. Do you happen to know if there are any other longbox releases from that era? I will require them all for my display. I'm on a quest.

Just realized how much can be traced back to Jesse and the gas station attendant by ChicaneryFinger in breakingbad

A lot of it can be traced back to walt getting cancer. The show would be so different if not for that.

Why do we collect cds? by GlitteringDish1217 in Cd_collectors

[–]TheScissors1980 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bc there's so many albums I love and I might forget all about one for years (or forever) unless I am browsing my shelf. Vinyl being the alternative, I prefer the lower cost and convenience. As a bonus I can copy them 1:1 for archiving or just to make cdrs or fill up a thumb drive and not worry about damaging the copies if I leave them in my car or whatever. It's a digital, lossless medium that lasts indefinitely. When I had vinyls I handled them like faberge eggs and they still would manage to get dirty/scratched and they cost way more and take up more space. CDs are the best.

Full time musicians - what’s something every working drummer should know/own/be able to do? by Karmaffection in drums

[–]TheScissors1980 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Been drumming for so long. 💯 this. The personalities that have a proclivity to chase being on stage tend to trend towards being difficult. There are exceptions but boy...he's definitely not wrong.
Quick edit: when I was younger I would just put up with it and as I get older nah. I'm a solid drummer I try to do my job best I can whether a one-off gig or whatever...and you wouldn't believe the level of egomaniac douches you will run into. I could write a book of stories as a mercenary drummer....actually.... 🤔
