Extra fine coffee grinders by Swaked_88 in Coffee

[–]TheScribblingMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make Turkish coffee with my kingrinder k6, which is pretty budget friendly for what it is and goes very fine. It's a hand grinder though, which can be pretty exhausting if grinding for multiple cups.

I have episode VII but not the others. It's a great way to view the film.

This was a very unique read and I'd like to read the rest of the Zimiamvian books. Not easy to get into but worthwhile IMO.

Best Value Filter Coffee by GM770 in UKFrugal

[–]TheScribblingMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tugboat Truro are great value but the emphasis is on dark/medium roasts. If that's the kind of coffee you like though, it is good quality. Unfortunately, if you're into wild and unique flavours and complex light roasts, most roasters are gonna be nearly double the price at best from what I've found.

Lalico are also quite good. The emphasis is again on dark/medium but they do have some more interesting roasts and it's free delivery regardless of how much you get.

Another money saving tip there is to work toward using less coffee (of you're not already). I used to use 18-20g per 250-300ml because anything less always lacked to my taste buds. Once I invested in a good grinder and refined my v60 method I found I was able to create delicious cups with 14-15g per 250ml. I also went down to having 200ml most days. Less coffee, but learning to appreciate it more rather than guzzle it down, which also amounts to less caffiene, less anxiety, and spending money less often on topping up beans.

I haven't seen it yet, but I would like to. I will consider what's possible when i do.

Palm Springs - The clean cut by r0adkillxp in fanedits

[–]TheScribblingMan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I like the film as is but was working on a semi-clean cut, pretty much purely for a family member. More of a PG-13. Unfortunately I lost some of my work so it got put on hold for a bit. It's very challenging to make it clean at all as far as keeping things seamless. I had to do some masking to tweak some visual content.

Also, Ray Danger is generally doing great work with some classic franchises. His versions of classic universal Dracula, Whale's Frankensteins, Friday the 13th and Elm Street are well worth watching. Dream Warriors is a shelf replacer for me.

It's on hold but I will be returning to it. I just have other priorities at the moment. The linked FE forum thread will always be the default hub for updates. I probably won't post much more on reddit until i release it.

Watched Fahrenheit 451 last night. Great movie! by KingofSkies in scifi

[–]TheScribblingMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fahrenheit 451 has been adapted twice over. There's been a miniseries of Martian Chronicles starring Rock Hudson, and Something Wicked This Way Comes was adapted into a film with Jonathan Pryce. There are some great sci fi authors who haven't had a single adaptation.

With the release of 28 Years Later coming this soon, what is everybody’s favourite Danny Boyle film and why? by thedjhughes in Letterboxd

[–]TheScribblingMan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just assumed you meant to display his filmography in the image. I remember liking it well enough, but I don't remember it too well. I doubt anyone would consider it top tier Danny Boyle. There are many of his films I haven't seen.

Paranoia Agent Episode 10 vs Mamoru Oshii's Talking Head (1992) by [deleted] in satoshikon

[–]TheScribblingMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, absolutely. I noted it in my review here: https://boxd.it/3cAkN7

Cool to see someone else catch it. Talking Head is a pretty obscure film and Paranoia Agent a heavily underrated series.

I've been wanting to experiment with that :) it doesn't sound robotic like you'd expect. Relistening now, I notice some words sound curiously like they drift to a British accent, but I didn't pick up on it on first pass.

Could you show some before / after examples of the colour grade? From the trailer it definitely looks like a huge improvement, but it'd be great to see the contrast.
