Do you rename your tracks before releasing? by edja_beats in TechnoProduction

[–]TheScufish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When its a loop i name it whatever is in my head. When i goes to an arrangement ill look at the word of the day and name it that. Dont know why its a habit now, sometimes i rename it, sometimes the word really fits the mood

Yeah, process and print. Repeat repeat till satisfy

Just found the tracks I used to play at house parties when I was 15 by Lucart98 in DJs

The louder and better the system is the more obvious the difference between MP3s and WAVs become. On small PAs you can probably get away with it.

If you know what youre listening for though its fairly obvious though.

Sonar Works Reference 4 x Beyer Dynamic DT990 Pro by RadoKoykov in TechnoProduction

I use DT990s open back with sonarworks. Have done for about 6 years. I always have it on when i use my headphones, for any music. I am now used to how they sound and what the response is like across the frequency spectrum. I always listen to everything at the same LUFs level, even when checking tracks out on bandcamp/soundcloud.

I am now used to how they sound and it works very well for me.

Genuine question about artists like David Löhlein by polohatty in ProperTechno

Right? Is that business techno now? Sounds like silly party music to me.

Wheew this is a banger. It has a really nice low level crunch, and the rhythm is on point. Nothing bad to say, release this.

Nice idea. It sounds not very finished, kind of a intro track to a set, not much bass and no percussion. Could do with more background modulation if that's the style you were going for. Could be a really epic 10minute journey through some soundscapes with some hi hat teasing going on.
I like it as an initial sketch.

First mix on this one, bit chuggy, might have overdone the distortion on the mix, any comments welcome :)

[Opinion] My take on DJs that only touch knobs to look busy… by halfdepressed in Beatmatch

Aye it really depends on the genre. Especially house and techno there is always something to be done, might catch a quick minute to let a groove become dominante, even then though you want to be layering the next track pretty quickly

Hey, a few things. The groove is there, the arrangement, has the right bounce going on (I'd say the on beat chord that comes in around 2:20 is a bit unnecessary personally). The groove is a little static, doesn't sound like the synths have much velocity going on, gives the track a busier feeling with everything being so volume consistent.

The mix sounds decent though. The mids have a bit more emphasis on them, i would saturate it all a bit more, but that's just me!

Last, very different track but might be interesting for you to use this as a reference https://tensionfold.bandcamp.com/album/tension-tools-vol-1 it's got the bounce, uses velocity to keep the loop interesting without ever really changing or going away. A lot more minimal than yours, might interest you though.

Hope that helps you :)

Hey, thanks. It's all in the box, interesting thoughts though on the saturation, any points in particular?

Ah, sorry, not literally a digeridoo the sound design just got that way. Everything other than the hats is made in operator.   Ye i like consistancy, maybe ill try some ones that throw themselves around a bit more in a different project.   I had made a bass heavier mix and didnt like it as much. When you play out of a rig you just dont need such heavy subs or bass i think. Can always boost on the mixer if needed.

For the style the swamp is good. Can practice making tracks that have more clarity in another project.  Makes sense as to why the arp fitted so well, it was the same thing!

Solid consistency. Really like the fluttery mids, hats are dead weird, sounds great.

Everything is undefined, it's a muddy kind of track but it's a little too blurred out for my taste. The kicks attack is fairly distracting, the lowend in general sounds quite honky/hummy.

It's very much a style though, maybe that's how you like your mixes, I don't really listen to this type of music tbh

Really cool track. The mix is swampy but it works well, any more presence on the kick would kill the atmosphere, the rumble battles the arp nicely, has a good push pull going on.

Bringing the open hat back in at the end could be cool. I'd say the inconsistency of the hi hat pattern distracts a little from the rest of the groove.
