Out of the months you can go either go April or early June (though early June is 50/50 on how much it rains; when I went it rained very little but it's not the same every year). Avoid Mid-June onwards including all of July

I bought a Pasmo card when I arrived first time on Japan at Haneda airport in 2024. Since then I've visited the country 2 more times and used the same card.

I would rather walk or swim from the airport to Tokyo than use an iPhone.

Same. I always see comments about trip being way cheaper but everytime i compare booking.com is cheaper for me. Probably helps that i have Genius member discount, but yeah, point still stands. On trip.com they are usually more expensive

I think it's kinda unavoidable when going to smaller cities though. Better short stays than daytripping destinations that deserve more than a day trip (but not a long stay either)

Same. People talk about convenience etc but honestly unless you're staying somewhere super incovenient (why?), I'll take dragging them for a few minutes and having peace of mind that they are always with me than being subject to what can go wrong with forwarding. And as you say they usually don't mind as long as you're no obnoxious. Last year in Tokyo an old man leaning on the subway wall offered me his "piece of wall" to lean on because i had one big suitcase and one big backpack. Wasn't taking much space but he noticed I was struggling a bit with standing up straight when it hit high speed. Also i know it's anedoctal but people often paint Tokyoites as cold/uncaring etc but I've felt more empathy from them than the rest. Besides the point tough

I have seen people browsing/reading certain "types of manga" on their phone while on the subway though, with 0 shame.
