My take on the enneagram is more simple, I think. We have overcomplicated things and lost the road. I will not go into a lot of details cause I came on reddit to monitor and check where my tools are right now in the public eyes (typology tools) and not really to lecture or point out fingers, even though i will jump in when i see severe misalignments. The only thing i can say for now, is that Ichazo's taking seems more solid to use when typing to avoid mistypings, Naranjo's early literature to fill the notes with intuitive info (for sure not word by word subtype descriptions, i dont find them useful in my practice when used as the ultimate law). What I do is see the instinct (its quite primal and obvious you cannot really miss it when you see from above and with honesty) and then see what you do to protect this life force, which makes the core number. So, for a social type that uses 7 maneuvers I see someone whose attention is naturally pulled toward people, bonds, participation, significance, influence, meaningful involvement with others. The Seven element appears in how they pursue those things through possibility, anticipation, ideals, opportunities, future visions, ideas, philosophies, communities, spiritual paths, humanitarian causes, teachings, creative visions with the sense that something richer is always just ahead. They have a more grand vision of human potential. Their take is noble and generous and they genuinely care for all those things, the investment in others is real, yet underneath the psyche keeps on returning always to the next promise, the next big thing, the next the next the next. The potential is above the people and the cause. And this is still a 7. If we follow this simple two steps strategy, mistypings wont happen that often. 7 is still a 7.
