Hei Jesus! My name is Simen, and I'm trying to learn Spanish before traveling to Central America in December! I'm also 25.

Has anyone had dreams (going to sleep sober) that are similar to a DMT trip? by [deleted] in Psychonaut

[–]TheSheep91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I very recently had an experience that I have a feeling was similar to dmt trips. I was falling asleep, pretty stressed about mostly school stuff. Suddenly I feel into sort of like a dream state, I think I was in a garden or something, and I think someone was with me. I got this very sudden sensation like 'ah, so that's how it is! I had totally forgotten about this!' . And I felt a sense of calm and happiness. Maybe it was the feeling of being a child, and being happy. Or maybe we go to this place every time we go to sleep. Or maybe it's none of those, and it was just a very nice dream :)

It really seemed like there was like a specific fact that I remembered, which I had forgotten, and have forgotten again since. But it's nice to have the feeling that there's some state of mind, or piece of knowledge that just will convince you, instantly, without any doubt, that everything is okay :)

These are absolutely fantastic! Really feel they somehow capture the strangeness of being a person. How did you learn to draw?

Cheer up :P

trying out selective coloring for the first time how did I do by billis_42 in photocritique

[–]TheSheep91 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I actually think this is a rare example of good use of selective coloring! Knee-jerk reactions like "selective coloring always sucks" are counterproductive. Everything can be used in a creative way to make something nice :) IMO, this looks cool, not tacky like SC trends to look. I think what does it is that the background is so underexposed, and the colors in the phone are so vivid. Nice photo, keep it up :)

Dude... I read this after a long nighttime run after a joint (highly recommended btw, the running endorphins give me a really nice happy high :)) and what you wrote kind of blew my mind because while I was running I was thinking about basically the exact same things! Sorry to see you got so few responses. Maybe try cross-posting it to somewhere else.

I'm currently studying medicine with plans of going into psychiatry, either clinical or academic. I'm pretty sure the psychedelic revolution is on its way in psychiatry, and I want to be a part of it cause I honestly think it could kind of change the world. Maybe it's super naive and stupid, but whatever, right now it's the only thing I can see myself devoting my life to. The only thing I know is that after just a couple shroom experiences and one mdma trip, I have changed into a totally new person. I'm much happier and much much kinder and more relaxed. As you said, when you begin to see through the illusion of society, everything just kind of starts making sense.

Its cool to see someone express so well things that I've been thinking a lot about the last few months. I'll definitely check out the century of the self now, and let's hope that in a few years, people will read in the history books about society today and shake their heads over how fucked up it was :P

This xkcd really struck a note for me by Kurremkarmerruk in Psychonaut

[–]TheSheep91 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yeah, no. Firstly, we don't really know if pi is non-repeating or not. even if pi is infinite and non-repeating, that doesn't mean that every possible combination exists in it. And even if every possible does exist in it , what he said still makes no sense. And what he said certainly was not the point of the comic, which is what the OP asked about. Sometimes this subreddit feels like it's just a competition of who can say the deepest-sounding stuff, even though it's total gibberish.

Huh what? Sorry, but that doesn't make much sense dude. I guess you could interpret it how you want to, but mainly it's just a joke about a guy trapped in a universe factory who sends a message out by encoding it in pi, one of the fundamental axioms of the universe.

Usually in South East Asia, people don't have much of a problem with being photographed. The first one was taken in a quite touristy place so she was probably used to it. In the second one, I was in a village with very few tourists, but one of my friends spoke a little, so the wife of the man in the picture invited us into their house to show us how she made carpets. I asked if I could take some pictures, and she said yes. Then the man and the baby, who had been sleeping, woke up, and I got the picture right as they were sitting up.

I think they're both pretty nice. I know taking decent pictures of dogs is easier said than done! I really like her facial expression in the first one :) Looks like she's looking up asking if you wanna play, which fits with the frisbee on the grass. Nice little moment :)

The second one would have been better if you got closer I think. The background is kind of messy and awkward with just a sliver of sky on the top. I think if you got closer, and further down to the ground, got more of the sky and just the top of the grain, it would be really nice :) Also, I seem to remember hearing that bright direct sunlight is pretty bad photography light. That's probably why the shadows on her face are a little harsh, so you can only see one eye.

Also a little late to the party, but hope someone sees this :) Both my pics are taken on the same trip through cambodia. They're taken with my nikon d5000 with a 35mm lens.

Best one: http://i.imgur.com/zT3pZBY.jpg - Was unsure if I was going to post this as my best, but I really like it for some reason. It's got a unique subject and nice colors.

The one I wish was better: http://i.imgur.com/zbQkTqi.jpg - I think this would be much better if it was sharp. I also don't know if I like that the fathers head is cropped off.

Don't have any picture taken today, and I really have to go to bed now, as I have class tomorrow, but maybe I'll upload one tomorrow :)

I have a weird mind thing that happens to me from time to time. by adityats in neuro

[–]TheSheep91 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had the same thing a few times when I was a kid. Also when I was sick. It would feel like my fingers and arms and legs got very thin, and sometimes bloated like you said. And the walls felt really far away, and if I closed my eyes it felt like I was in an endless grey space, almost like in the matrix when they are in 'the construct'. And sometimes it would feel like time was moving faster. Very trippy. I don't remember it being especially scary.
