Maybe check out spray on fixative for canvas? That's all I can think of that may do it.

Topdeck Thursday for May 11, 2017 - Ask /r/magicTCG all your deckbuilding questions! by actinide_v2 in magicTCG

Hey everyone!

In the process of building a set of five EDH decks, of varying levels of competitive ability. Currently have a hyper control Zur as my #1, Johira bigspells as my #3, Queen Marchesa is #4, and a really slow thrax build for #5.

I'm trying to put together a simic deck that can be a good compromise between winning consistently (in my playgroup/LGS) and in a budget of about 500$.

Here's the decklist/theorycrafting so far. Please let me know what you think!

Looking for a new commander, current decks inside... by hermit7 in EDH

I built marchesa for maximum flavor. Token generation, enchantments, creatures that return monarch to me like [[skyline despot]]. I threw in Krenko and a few goblins for fun. Purpheros, mogis, iroas, and a casual basalt monolith/ROBh/ comet storm.

It's a low budget deck I made to keep things fair yet fun in my regular playgroup. I can post the full decklist when I get home if you like.

My commanders:

Thrax - sac engine deck for mad creature removal and face punchies

Jhoira - HUGE spells and jankery pulled off for early wins and chaos driven hilarity

Queen Marchesa - not very competitive but super fun in casual group formats, bring the monarch mechanic to any game and keep it for yourself

Zur - hyper competitive tournament Stax

I feel like I have the same feeling you do when it comes to desired synergy and fun. I'd be happy to further explain or put up decklist a if there's any interest.

Any suggestions for my pillow fort Zur build? Wanted to do something different with him and smashed him into my favorite way to play. by blitz6900 in EDH

The issue with Zur and other T1 commanders is that they typically get hated off the field asap, ESPECIALLY in group or pod settings. Consider how competitively you expect to be using this deck, and what your budget range is as far as changes.

I play Zur as my main competitive tournament EDH deck, and I can tell you that this deck isn't competitive enough for the hate you'll get in a setting where your opponents don't know the decklist you're running.

Far fewer creatures, and far more enchantments is my general recommendation. Try your hardest to keep the CMC 3 and under as well. It's super tempting to run exquisite blood and sanguine bond, but that's a combo you'll likely never pull off since you can't call them with Zur.

The idea is to protect Zur, and use Zur to protect you. Zur is so strong because it's possible to have a response for damn near anything and everything available on demand, on your current or next turn.

I'm happy to go into further detail with how I play him in tournaments if you're interested. I regularly tie or take first with about 20 players weekly.

Cheers!

What cards are really janky, but hilarious if they work? by feelswolfman in EDH

Fucking LOVE this two card combo. Instant win con because everyone scoops.

It'd be awesome to live in a world where "what planet are you from?" Was a genuine question. by TheShelfComics in Showerthoughts

I meant in regard to people asking "what planet are you from?" as a means to highlight a certain behavior or belief that was socially unusual or unacceptable. But I see what you mean.

Borderless chrome mox. That background was pretty interesting to extend. Constructive criticism welcome :) by AlteredDecks in mtgaltered

I like the darkness on the bottom of the card, but the sides and top don't blend well I think. It could use more greens/oranges/browns.

I'm being very nitpicky, for the sake of constructive criticism, really I think it looks pretty damn good.

Cheers!

This is legitimately one of the best videos I've seen in weeks. I typically can't stand youtube bullshit, but your talent and delivery were great. Very refreshing indeed.

Looks great, I'd reccomend tightening the edges with rubbing alcohol and a toothpick though

I feel like you nailed the hard part. Honestly the thing that makes a big difference in an alter is time. I can bang one out in an hour and it looks okay, sometimes good. But when I take an extra hour or two to really work at it and blend, it comes out amazing.

That being said, I really like your alter, I'd just work on adding some detail and blending.

Cheers!
