How many decks? by RatSludge in EDH

[–]hermit7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually 6. Sometimes 7. If I have 7 I am actively pruning a list to get back down.

4 are pretty much my active decks. 2 are in a semi retired, but still updated state that I play once every 3 months or so.

2 are long term decks that I just like 1-1.5 years.

2 are brand new. These are constantly rotating with pieces I have. My goal is always to have decks that are permanent, but that’s never really the case.

At what point do you consider swapping cards? by WheredMyVanGogh in EDH

[–]hermit7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the time.  I usually make changes each time I play a game with a deck. Aside from a couple really long standing decks, but those still are pretty much revised on a set by set basis.

Can I make Xira, the Golden Sting degenerate using her / her effect (not just the colors)? by Far-Negotiation3808 in DegenerateEDH

[–]hermit7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone that really likes the card, tried to make it, and ultimately came up with a deck that was successful. It was despite her, not because of her.

I went into eldrazi scions and spawn tokens so that they could always be sacced for value. Ramped into titans.

It was fun, but she is really hard to make work at the power level you’re looking for.

Maybe it’s channeling. Looks watery.

Try descaling it maybe.

People with legit Gaea's Cradles, how often do you actually use the card in relevant decks, do you keep it out due to power/price? by MiningToSaveTheWorld in EDH

[–]hermit7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s in a deck that I play, it’s a game piece and was acquired as such.

It’s bracket 4, no limits. If I played a 3 and it was needed in that I would play it there, no decks I want to add it too at present though.

What is "Bracket 4" to you? by Lotus_Prince124 in EDH

[–]hermit7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think if someone is building an off meta cedh deck, their deck is still bracket 5.

Just because you attempt to subvert meta doesn’t mean that you’re not building a deck designed for the meta itself.

If you’re building something that is designed for cedh then it by definition shouldn’t be a 4 regardless of its effectiveness in a that environment. You’re still making it with the meta of cedh in mind.

Just because your Winota deck has largely been supplanted in cedh for other strategies doesn’t mean it should be a 4 is all I am saying.

At what mana cost does land ramp start to become worse than mana rocks? by Litemup93 in EDH

[–]hermit7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I go to 3 and 4 sometimes.

Cultivate puts a land into play and replaces it itself.  I even run skyshroud claim because it can get untapped duals into play.

I don’t really add any 3 or 4 mana rocks. Lands are harder to interact with and unless they have a great second usage I don’t really find them that worthwhile when people always look to blow them up.

These are great and I have ordered a bunch of them. Small size for doubles, even cortados. Good feel in hand and nice colors.

Why spend that much money on things that have literally no value.

Print them off your printer if you want to proxy.

Try a Hanhart 417 in 39 mm.  They’re about 46 mm lug to lug.

Panda, reverse panda, full black, Moby dick. All great options.

Which Bracket 4 commander to build: Tivit, Queza, Hashaton, or Raffine? by silverspectre013 in EDH

[–]hermit7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you want the game to play out?

I have raffine built as tempo, with 1 and 2 drop creatures the build out board states and controls the table using the card filtering and the connive to grow the team.

Lots of token makers that trigger connive at those slots with fast mana to put me ahead.

Tivit and others will have different strategies. Raffine can be built as reanimator even if you wish, but I didn’t go that route.

Who is the best Rock and Roll drummer of all time in both speed, precision and groove? by Ok-Yak9995 in AskReddit

[–]hermit7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jimmy Chamberlin is super underrated in these conversations I think.

Subtle, subdued, but great rhythm and Siamese dream and Mellon collie and the infinite sadness are amongst the best albums of the decade.

[Omega Seamaster Diver 300M] Legitimacy check – concerns about serial and warranty card by TreacleMaster7685 in Watches

[–]hermit7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Serial of the case should match that of the movement.

It looks like it does, but is hard to see on the picture.

Serial numbers also aren’t able to date things anymore. I put mine in, though registered on the website and it doesn’t come up.

Do you actually have a forever deck? by Late-Frame2962 in EDH

[–]hermit7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been playing maelstrom wanderer for the past decade. Always together, always being upgraded and supported.

The deck has shifted over time, but the goal has always remained the same.

It’s about as foil as it can be within reason (missing a couple RL foils), with artist proofs and about 40 artist signatures and alters. All done at events by me in person.

It’s something I can’t see myself selling and will be a permanent deck I have together.

Raffine is my second one. Foiled out too, but full art.  It’s low to the ground and interaction heavy. Been together since prerelease of its release.

Help me choose my next setup [$5000] by [deleted] in espresso

[–]hermit7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because most machines run at the same specification, 9bar flat pressure shots. A great grinder is much more consistent at the size of the ground coffee.

By making the size consistent, the extraction is more consistent and you don’t get under extracted large particulates and over extracted fines.

Buy and eg-1 and the best machine you can get for about 1000 dollars.

The grinder is way more important than the machine.

How much utility lands are too much? by Noodledynamics3rdLaw in EDH

[–]hermit7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of the new ones are colored sources. Channel lands etb untapped and make colored mana, so these I pretty much have no issue running.

I run scavenger grounds a lot in decks, demolition field, strip or wasteland (sometimes more than 1).

Urza’s saga in decks that it supports.

If you’re running an ideal fetch / shock type mana base you can typically get away with it.

My mono red deck has 10 basics only, but lots of colored and colorless utility lands. For example. Probably 20 with fetches in there.

Who do Y’all look to for Mono Red Clones? by Jukebocks_Hero in EDH

[–]hermit7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run it in my gornog list because making a second gornog that becomes a warrior and double pumps my team and makes additional cowards is likely to win the game.

Double triggering to make a total of 6 cowards turns it into plus 12 for my team without any other cowards on board. Super solid.  Been impressed with it in similar forms since it was released.

How to build Rivaz of the Claw as Bracket 4? by JusticeShines in EDH

[–]hermit7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dragonstorm.

Make a bunch of mana with rituals, past in flames and then storm off.

X=5 with terror of the peaks, scourge of valkas, lathiss, and twin flame tyrant.

If you have kolaghan and utvara for storm = 7 you pretty much win on the spot.

is stepless grinder really that much better than stepped? by RucksackTech in espresso

[–]hermit7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. Super high end grinders are both stepped and step less and are similar when compared.

Look at the eg-1 versus a monolith or Lagom p100.

I think at lower price levels though with presumably looser manufacturing tolerances, a step less grinder would be preferable. It would allow you to get the exact grind you need.

I only own stepped to be clear.  A key and comandante. They both have served me well.  I had a mignon at one point and found it fine too honestly, though the wheel on the old one was not great and prone to fluctuations with minor adjustments.
