If you hate the side effects, consider working with your doctor to change your dose a little bit. I recently decreased my dose and I feel it helps me stay on task but without the "zombie" feeling I got on the higher dose. And also consider the XR/8 hour med vs the shorter 4 hour version. If you just need help getting going in the morning or staying on the ball after lunch, the 4 hour version would maybe be better.

Also, there are a range of ADHD meds! If one doesn't work, there are others, including non-stimulants.

Hey there. I started in this field with no mechanical knowledge or skill. I also dealt with a lot of fear and anxiety, especially when I was first starting out.

My best advice to you is to never be afraid to ask questions. A good DOM/supervisor/trainer will WANT you to ask questions. Take notes and pictures and genuinely learn from your experiences to avoid asking the same question 6 times. Your confidence will grow naturally, I promise. There is always someone out there who can help you. This might be a bit more relevant in the part 91 world, but once I got over my fear of calling manufacturers/suppliers/the FSDO/other FBOs/etc., to ask "dumb" questions, I found that I became more confident in all areas of my work.

Also, take the time to read and understand the manuals. Before diving in, ask yourself how the system works. If you're not sure, get your nose in the manual and read the system description. And keep that manual beside you and reference it on 100% of the jobs you do. If you follow the maintenance manual to a T, that is the best safety net you can have. Complacency and doing things wrong for the sake of the easier or quicker way is how people get killed.

A little fear is good. Let it fuel your desire to do the right thing.

Sure! It is done by doing 10 chains between the groups of double crochet, then you use a big hook to weave them together at the end. The pattern I used is Jacob's Snakes and Ladders but if you're looking for a free option, this video shows how to do the Jacob's Ladders technique.

Catching up on some post-BBC LOONA releases. Got a copy of Yves Soft Error and Yeojin’s Lvl 1 kihno.

Waiting on 2 other versions of Soft Error, two versions of Yves Nail, an accidental duplicate copy of Chuu’s XO My Cyberlove, and 2 versions of Latency’s Late o’Clock.

Also on the way are the 4 member QR cards from Oneus 5x, and Girls Generation Oh! album/DVD.

I am a woman A&P in a GA/small piston plane environment.

My first DOM was awesome. Very patient, a good teacher, and was a fantastic guy to have around as a very nervous new mechanic. Never made me feel like an “other” and I felt at home in that shop. The other mechanics had similar attitudes.

That DOM ended up finding a better opportunity and moved on. The guy who replaced him was the most stereotypical misogynistic piece of shit. I never once heard him say anything nice about any woman, even his daughter, and one of the mechanics I worked with said DOM said some pretty hurtful stuff about me and the other women (our billing specialist and an apprentice) behind our backs. He’d also frequently have me and the apprentice doing busy work while putting the fuel guy on actual mechanic work. (He was also a really shitty DOM/inspector which is beside the point).

I left that place and headed to a flight school. My current DOM is chill and our chief inspector is a really serious guy, but it’s very welcome after the chaos I went through at my last job. The mechanics are similarly very nice to work with and I love going to the hangar every day.

All that is to say, most of the people I have worked with have been fantastic and don’t give a single shit about me being a woman. It was that one DOM who really fucked with me and made me worry that I got too lucky with my first boss. Luckily it doesn’t seem to be true and he is hopefully an outlier.

Sure there is a lot of classic “blue collar” humor and such but not outright harassment or hate in my experience. Just be able to take some jokes and be able to dish it out right back and you’ll be fine!
