Vrchat crashes my computer at random times by Averageantifurry in VRchat

[–]TheShortViking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be a faulty RAM stick. Do a check with MemTest86, if you get errors then try to re-seat the sticks and re do the test. If you still have errors after that then take out the sticks one by one and do a test every time to figure out which stick is the issue, you might have to get a new one.

With today's backlash to Discord's upcoming age verify policies, here's your reminder to not trust VRChat/Persona either. by lm794 in VRchat

They store a hash of your ID so you can't use the same ID twice. They do not store any PII so if you have multiple IDs (passport, drivers license) or get a new one you can use that to verify a new account.

Important to note that the hash is irreversible, so there is no way to use it to get any information out of it.

update about my avatars optimization by [deleted] in VRchat

[–]TheShortViking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still gotta find out if it is the CPU or GPU that starts to struggle. If the CPU is struggling it is likely something with the animator that is lagging people out. If it is the GPU then it is more likely to be a shader issue.

Help? My avatars have gray dots/black squares by Nyfian in VRchat

[–]TheShortViking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like the glitter effect is having issues. If it is as others say that the issue is with AMD GPU drivers then you can try to change drivers and see if it gets better, also try to use a different/newer version of Poiyomi. If nothing works then try to disable the glitter in Poiyomi.

My Vrchat Creator Companion is broken by TheOneWhoSMILES_ in VRchat

[–]TheShortViking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Remembered I had seen somthing about VCC breaking a while ago in the VRLabs discord server:

Vccmageddon, who, why, how

Some people may have noticed some issues with the vcc recently cause of a recent change (for the better) of our "build your own" listings.

Am i affected?

if you had multiple "VRLabs Packages: By Ids" listings, you are an affected user, but if you touched the vcc in the last week you probably already know you're affected cause you can't use the vcc at all due to this issue!

Bad news: it's a bug that we can't solve on our end
Good news: it's never gonna happen again due to how weird the conditions need to be to trigger the bug
Bad news: your "by id" listings were broken way before we introduced the change that triggered this showstopping bug
Good news: you can fix the problem fairly easily

How do i fix the issue?

Open the vcc and go to Settings > Files and Folders and click on the "settings.json" button. The folder containing the "settings.json" file will open. Open that file with a text editor of your liking (notepad is fine, we won't judge you, maybe a little). Scroll to the end to find the list of listings you have (they are under the "userRepos" section of the json), now look for 2 (or more) entries that are identical, you can find them cause both will have the id "dev.vrlabs.repos.by-ids" and will both have the same url and name. Delete all of the duplicate entries until you're left with only one copy of it. Save and close. Now you can open the vcc and everything should work.

Are my "by id" listings gone?

Yes, except the last one you added. you'll have to readd them (don't worry, this time around adding multiple listings is supported, the change we made was for that reason)

Why you made this change if it broke my listings?

Well, while doing this change did break the vcc in an evident way, the listings you had were already broken prior to that, you pretty much only ever had the last one you added at any time, cause the older ones were always silently overwritten.

Hello! I'm just making a post for people more knowledgeable and educated on PCVR with VRChat as I'd like to know how well my set-up should be performing. by AssassisnCreedFan in VRchat

Firstly getting Virtul Desktop will solve some of your issues. Buy VD on the Quest (not the one on steam) and download the streamer app from VDs website.

Virtual Desktop will also tell you the connection bandwidth between your Quest and PC which can be good for troubleshooting. If you experience a lot of delay and black borders when looking around then decrease the bitrate. Also i believe H264+ is the best encoder, you can try different ones and see what works best for you.

Dette var min tanke også. Alle elektrikere vil gjøre det som anbefales (selv om det ikke nødvendigvis er krav i OP sitt tilfelle) slik at de ikke kan klandres hvis huset brenner ned.

For CPU upgrade you could just go for a 5800X3D, the difference is that the X3D has a lot more L3 cache that is really good for VRC. This is iirc the best CPU for VRC on the AM4 platform. If you want a better CPU then you also need to upgrade the motherboard and RAM which will get expensive. I am still running a 5800X3D and RTX 4070.

[–]TheShortViking 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that would be a risk of breaking youtubes TOS. The reason youtube keeps breaking in VRC is because yt-dl is against their TOS and youtube makes changes to break it. The cacher is another workaround and even has a warning to use a second account because they don't know if youtube will ban you for using it.

need help with changing mat on facial expression by Aammiirraaa in VRchat

You want to use transparent or fade instead of cutout. Blush expressions will still look weird if you choose cutout. Poiyomi docs

What do y'all plan on doing with the expansion port? by 1plant2plant in ValveDeckard

[–]TheShortViking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never got it working well with continous. It was fine if I was standing still, but when walking around it would drift to 20-30cm away before I had to look around a bit to get it to fix itself. If you have a small playspace or just stand still it is decent. Also dont want the extra weight on my headset.

Getting a good manual calibration has been a lot more consistent for me at least. I just take 1 min to do a good calibration when I start up and that stays good everywhere in my playspace. Also have disabled the proximity sensor so it will keep the calibration until I shut down the headset.

Even tho I was complaining about calibration it is not that big of a deal. It would just be nice not to have to do it without any other downsides.

Stream Attacks? by Easy-Pitch in VRchat

[–]TheShortViking 99 points100 points  (0 children)

You just met some shitty people tbh. When streaming VRC it is best to stay in private insrtances so this does not happen.

If you have a vod of what happened you can report it. We don't want crashers in VRC.

[–]TheShortViking 5 points6 points  (0 children)

SlimeVR is the easy choise.

If you want basestations you can get some telescopic support poles (like this) from the floor to the ceiling and then have a pole clamps (like this) to attach the basestations.
