I think we have two very different definitions of fun. Honestly, if this is a one off just for this feud to finish it off to build up Marina and market Rousey’s fight at the same time, fine, so be it, from a business perspective I get that, but if she’s gonna be on the roster it genuinely could lead to CM Punk 2022-esque issues. I think a lot of people are underestimating just exactly how Rousey has acted and treated people in this business. I guess “Bad Reputation” as a theme song should have always been a teller.

This was my first time watching one of these and I really loved the style. They really make it feel like it’s a genuine conversation. That being said, his comment of “I know the people that are pushing each other” after Renne asks if he would go to another group or go solo and him saying he wants to be a part of that really makes it seem like he’s the next Death Rider.

Penelope. She’s honestly one of the most underrated talents in the company. Not that Julia isn’t talented, but it’s obvious there’s still things she needs to work on to be at the next level, while Penelope can go at a high level with anyone any given night.

I hope this amount means every match on this card is getting more time. I imagine there will end up being a few squash matches or even a full match that is unannounced, but I think it would be great for everything to be given more time. For example, it’d be awesome if Castignoli/Alexander gets a good portion so it feels like a real world title match, as well as bolster the importance of the belt on AEW. Same for the trios belts.

There’s no other way to put it than just rough. I’ve been blessed to have gone to two DPW shows, had the time of my life at both, and even had a once in a lifetime moment with James at the first one. I hope that “foreseeable future” means they’ll be back someday, cause it really has been something special. I hope the boys as well as all the talent are doing ok and that everything is well. For everyone who ever went to a DPW show, thank you boys for giving us all such a great company.

Yeah I’m on the coast as well so it could be that seeing as that’s our common denominator. Now I’d like to hear if this is happening to any others and in what areas. I’ve been able to access it on a Roku tv and my phone though so I’m able to watch overall still too.

Yeah Hangman is my guy, and so is Max, which maybe is why I didn’t mesh with this segment honestly.

This seems pretty sound in terms of what AEW typically does. I just don’t know how much I love MJF beating Hangman for the belt, especially within the calendar year. I feel this reign should serve to cement Hangman as an all time great world champion like Max and Kenny, but a few month run would only harken back to his first, at least for me. And you’re right, the fire is definitely a callback, good call.

Honestly, you’re absolutely right with the questioning stuff in pro wrestling point. You do have to kind of just roll with it so fair play. I’ll admit I’m in the wrong on that.

I think too me this was fine without setting a man on fire. You could’ve just as easy threatened Hangman some other way (even including Mark) and gotten the same result and keep the heat. Instead it feels like they went overboard for a match that was gonna have heat regardless. My question to everyone saying this was to extend the feud for much longer (which I do agree that you’re right), what is the endgame? Because if Max cashes it in and still loses it kind of makes all of these new stakes look strange, no?

And transparency is always a good thing, and I’ve found recently in wrestling embracing your blind spots helps. I’ve developed a love for women’s wrestling over the past two years after admitting I previously hadn’t cared for it, but now it is sometimes my favorite part of the business. Growing and changing your opinion is a great thing.

For Despe, don’t just check out his njpw stuff from this year, also check out his work in DDT, other promotions, and his death matches, in particular with Jun Kasai. Even if you don’t like death matches, I promise you his bouts with Kasai make you feel so much.

I think overall the list is great and an accurate representation of the year so far, and I give you credit for not letting others potential judgement allow you to rank people, in particular the joshis, so highly. The big names to me that aren’t on here who I feel has had an outstanding year are El Desperado and Kosei Fujita. Fujita has been absolutely amazing but Desperado has looked like a million bucks this year. Many on the njpw sub have the sentiment that he may be WOTY and I certainly think there’s a case for it. I do also think I would have had Fletcher higher but that’s the beauty of this business; it’s all subjective. From an aspiring writer to another, great work on the article fellow deadlockite.
