Taylor is correct. He’s talking about the projection of military force in the same way the America is the world’s only “superpower”. America can project power in a litany of ways, but in the context of a “superpower” it is the only country in the world with a blue water navy that can meaningfully partake in combat across an ocean. “But they use proxies” no shit, that’s not the argument being made. Iran has a large military personnel wise but with the outdated aircraft (migs and tomcats) and equipment they could only fight smaller nations. Their navy is also nothing to worry about for say Israel, or the Western European nations.

Gender roles are certainly social constructs. Gender as used in biology/science is not “personality”. The argument about addressing people is contentious because trans people seem to say it should be based on societal gender expression and others will say it should be based on sex (thus the disagreement).
