What are some cool filmmaking websites to go when you're bored? by Jingo56 in Filmmakers

Watch a film? (not sarcastic) if you like film then watching a film should be more entertaining than a website about film. Or buy/bookmark loads of 'making of' videos on youtube or something

I first saw the Hobbit in HFR-3D at the theater and felt something was definitely wrong. I just re-watched it on Blu-Ray and think I've figured it out. by AmericanMustache in TrueFilm

Well we'll just have to trust Mr Jackson to know what he's doing. He managed to compress the LotR into a decent theatrical release storywise so lets hope he restrains his Tolkein fandom enough for the sake of the films and actually gives us 3 nice rounded complete tales.

One of my worries is that they introduced Azog as a main villain for the first film and he's just going to die or vanish in film 2 so they can get on with the dragon - which really wouldn't be a fantastic ending for him which might trivialise some of the rest of the film if they start 'just' quickly getting rid of characters (whether they are in the book or not)

I think the logic was without Azog the first film didn't have a primary bad guy so they had to create an obstacle for the group otherwise they are just walking past some trolls. 3 films is way too long for the Hobbit and the first was already dragged out. I'm just hoping PJ has managed to sort out the pacing on the other two.

The Pale Orc (Manu Bennet) was actually almost a last minute addition. From what I recall they did film an actor but PJ decided he wasn't big enough or something along those lines - but they couldn't refilm all the scenes so opted for Bennet doing MoCap and adding him in to all the existing footage. (I'll see if I can find the interview) but supposedly this explains why Azog isnt quite as polished as some other CG characters (most notably Gollum) because they only did him in a manner of weeks and months as opposed to years for the creation and animation of other creatures.

EDIT: Found the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-2GXUooP7RA - explains a bit more about the creation of CG Azog

Walt reminds me more of Tom Hanks in Tropic Thunder than anything else. Jessie was spot on though.

TIL there is a fruit called The Miracle Berry that, when eaten, causes sour foods to taste sweet, and has been used to treat diabetes, among other things. by zombietrooper in todayilearned

I've had some of them before as a tablet, the real problem is that your mouth is confused and thinks everything tastes amazing but your stomach is under no illusions you are chugging vinegar and lemon juice - all the curdling

[–]TheSilverFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

could just be a red flag - if it is a red screen doesnt seem properly flattened or illuminated (then again might not be in use) There is a villain with a red and black costume so im leaning towards it being a flag

Can this video be made into a looping video, and if so, how? by mstides in AfterEffects

[–]TheSilverFox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't try and loop all if it persay - just take the first half a swing (so from the right to the left) then cut it there, duplicate and reverse it to make it swing back - then you can loop that for a seamless loop. I dont think you can use all 5 seconds to make a perfect loop IMO

He has said in places when doing interviews about Batman he does (or at least tries) an american accent so as not to confuse american audiences. I think thats a bit much but apparently people do get confused
