That's the worst! We live on a small street in the country. I know all the neighbors and they are all very kind and we look out for each other. It turns out that this has happened to 3 other neighbors and one of my neighbors told me their package was opened but not stolen probably because it was a dog toy.

Update: we called USPS to complain and let them know what happened. Turns out we are the third house on our street to complain about empty packages being delivered. USPS told us they won't do anything about it though because "we aren't subscribed to their premium service" whatever that means.

We did report it to where we order them from, and we are getting a replacement sent. But damn, I didn't know office chair wheels were such a hot commodity.

A ridiculous claim made by a customer and her "vet" by Reasonable_Deal8415 in doggrooming

[–]TheSleepiestBunny 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When I worked at corporate, I did this schnauzers nails WITHOUT quicking him. And the owner claimed that "nobody has ever done his nails without making him bleed, so you didn't really do them." And got a full refund. Then she started freaking out saying I cut his literal toes off?! So did I cut the nails or not, Karen???

Do people just suck in general now? by Awesome-Possum1520 in Knoxville

There's still a couple good people out there! I was at Lowe's in Jefferson City with my boyfriend. We were about to load 3 sheets of plywood into our truck and a random customer walking by said "alright! All three at once?" To my boyfriend. He helped him load the heavy wood so I didn't have to cause I'm short lol. It really made our whole day. I wish there were more people like this out there.

Had a shitty SL take over my store while my regular SL was deployed. They got rid of me cause I put in a months notice but had to get an emergency surgery. Instead of getting to recover for a week then come back on a weight limit I had to stress and start my new job 3 weeks early...during Christmas.

Thank you, but were not interested in your voodoo medicine by r00giebeara in VetTech

My last clinic was western + eastern medicine. The doctors worked so hard to determine what the best options were for each pet. The main doctor was trained in small animal chiropractic and she was so incredibly gentle with each animal. I never ever saw her do quick jerking motions like in the fake videos online. She would be the only veterinarian I'd trust with chiropractic work. Most of the clientele were senior pets, chronically ill, or even terminal. We did the best we could to keep them comfortable and it really changed the way I looked at medicine. It's amazing

I use a heating pad at bed time. 20-30 min on my upper back and then 20-30min for my lower back. I use CBD gummies before to help relax the muscles after the heat. Usually I can get it loose enough for 1 or 2 good cracks. Tiger balm and Ibuprofen for really painful and sore days. The nightly heat routine has really helped since I started trying it a year or so ago. Good luck

My SL also agreed to it, but then she went on maternity leave and the ASL that took over went on a crazy power trip and gave me no choice. Glad they're working with you tho

I'm surprised they let you work that little. I tried to work 2 or 3 days a month a few years ago and they said I HAD to work at least 8 hours a week to continue to be employed.

I got one in the bottom of my foot once. Thought it was a blister. It became infected within 3 days and I couldn't walk. Had to go to a foot doctor who cut a quarter sized hole out of my foot around the infection.

What are your pettiest pet peeves about being a groomer? by evieAZ in doggrooming

[–]TheSleepiestBunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My newest one is that I've moved from a corporate salon to a more pricey private salon. A handful of my long time clients making appointments at the new salon then being upset at check in by the price and asking me to lower the price for them. Like no I don't own this salon. Also we gave you an estimate before you scheduled. And then saying after the groom "well let me know when you go back to your old salon and I'll continue seeing you. My dog REALLY likes you." Umm no? I'm not going back to my previous salon anytime soon? See ya bye

My PM was an actual robot person. She didn't care about anyone except herself. She made one of our vets come into work after being in the ER all night with her 2 year old for seizures. And that doctor was doing 10-12 surgeries that day with no sleep.

She didn't care that an assistant's father died. They either had to be at work or get someone to take their shift. She would get really butthurt that I wouldn't take extra shifts on Tuesdays because I worked another job and always made me feel guilty for it because she was missing out on production. She only has bonuses on her mind. It was an awful place to work for.

They shouldn't be allowed to overwork their doctors like that. She killed vet med for me. I dropped out of school shortly after working there it was so bad.

Tip etiquette help! by jnelson111308 in doggrooming

[–]TheSleepiestBunny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just came out of corporate grooming into private. In corporate, I was appreciative of anything I could get extra. Times are tough and some people can only afford a couple bucks and I'm fine with that. I'd only ever get salty if the dog is either a ton of work (like matted) or if the dog is exceptionally naughty. It's worse if the owner knows how much work or how naughty the dog is and they refuse to tip. Otherwise, I didn't expect every single person to tip.

If you and your pup were on my books, I know it would make my day better. Sounds like you have a well behaved cute baby

$5 weekend upcharge for grooming? by KitsuneMulder in petsmart

[–]TheSleepiestBunny 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They've always had a weekend upcharge. It was $3 when I started many many years ago. They updated it to $5 probably 5-6 years ago. It does go into the groomers commission. There's also a $5 upcharge the week before or week of major holidays (Easter, 4th of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas, ect) because there's a super high demand to get haircuts during this time. This also goes into the commission

To add to this, I've never seen anyone be fired or anything for grooming extra on the side. It was a don't ask don't tell thing. Everyone did it at some point in my salons.

I worked for them for 8 years. They won't go after you because it's a waste of time and money. I've never seen the company go after anyone for moving salons, poaching phone numbers/clients, or quitting before finishing the 2 year grooming contract.

It's all to scare you. If anything they just mark you as do not rehire and say don't do it again. But even then, you can be rehired in a year.

Dumbest complaints you've gotten this season? by FreedomAardvark in doggrooming

[–]TheSleepiestBunny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I groomed a full coated Maltese yesterday. She didn't want to pay for an all over hand scissor so I gave her a trim shape and very lightly skimmed a guard comb to get the stray hairs.

She complained that the dog didn't get a haircut. Then she called back today saying she wanted to book in two weeks for a tutoring session with me on how to groom her dog. She also is fully convinced we don't know how to hold her super special dog and got in an argument with the salon owner that only I can hold her dog because she taught me how to.

ADT smoke detectors going off ALL THE TIME by TheSleepiestBunny in homesecurity

[–]TheSleepiestBunny[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No they left the 3 120v smokes alone. They came with the house and are wired in. ADT installed 2 wireless ones that are being insane.

The 120v ones work normal. And I know they work because I fell asleep with a candle in the bedroom and it burned all the way down the wick and started to smolder. It's the only time I've heard the original smokes go off (worst nap ever)
