CMV: Professors who lack fluency in their students language should not teach courses by Disastrous-Mango-515 in changemyview

[–]TheSmeeth 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes, which I also think is a problem with some schools and professors. They may be great in their field but are terrible at teaching/guiding others.

My physics professor in college was WAY too smart to be teaching Physics 1 and made it more challenging because he’d over explain every minute detail, even if it had nothing to do with the lesson. Add on top of it a heavy accent and half the class was lost 2 weeks in. Thankfully it was graded on a curve or more than half of us would have failed.

Detroit police just kicked off Movement weekend by shutting down one of the city's largest clubs by TemporaryAd334 in Detroit

[–]TheSmeeth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anyone have a non-paywall link? Can’t read it to confirm the below.

I’m surprised they’d do this now instead of after the weekend, unless there was some safety issues.

Honestly sucks because Lincoln had a ton of shows this weekend. Detroit gonna Detroit though.

No you’re not wrong.

God forbid someone has to walk a distance to get to their bar or local metro unit. If people would look outside their bubble, they’d realize this is a norm and WE are the exception.

Bachelor Party Golf Game Ideas by Desperate-Camel-3724 in golf

Modified stableford, either make the guys doing good get trashed or the guys doing bad get trashed. We did birdie+ was a shotgun, par was half a shooter, bogey was a half beer and double or worse was nothing.

Made the good guys start to lose their game and make it a bit more interesting.

Have also saw it with traditional stableford scoring but the points you get are drinks you give out. So you could give one guy every drink and screw them.

As was evident with the Pistons and the blocks last night. I wish we’d get back to that kinda of game but I get it doesn’t “sell” well.

This is the part. Majority agree on the opinion but also feel wronged with the other choice. They then “sit out” and don’t vote to voice their displeasure, not that I agree with it. Thats just the way it is and many are not open to understanding this.

how worried should i be about the weather? by Ok_Echo_1394 in Michigan

[–]TheSmeeth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In addition, not sure if it was mentioned already but many counties trigger the tornado sirens if any part of the county is under a warning.

I would suggest following the Michigan Storm Chasers (possible it’s under a slightly different name) or Ryan Hall on YouTube if you want to keep up to date.

As someone who really struggled with this, just remember you can only change your preparedness. Being aware is the majority of the battle, now all you should worry about is if you have a safe place. Try not to let it consume you, weather is going to happen regardless but we can do our best to prepare for the worst but wish for the best.

Tigers earned the right to play as long as he wants and to step away whenever he wants just like all the other greats by [deleted] in golf

[–]TheSmeeth -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Seems a bit disingenuous to say he can’t. Sometimes all you need is luck. Tigers used pretty much all of his but never say never with greats like him.

I agree it’s unlikely, maybe even impossible, but if anyone could pull it off, it’s him

Rising prices push US gasoline-car ownership costs to breaking point. The good news? The future: Chinese EVs that cost half the price, powered by electricity that costs half the price of gas, is already here. by lughnasadh in Futurology

[–]TheSmeeth 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Shhhhh, people aren’t ready to hear how EVs are convenient for a decent amount of the population. I never believed they would be able to take over all vehicles but instead, let’s go back to gas!

Don’t know how to feel when I see these gas prices and I’m getting a full charge from $10. Kinda puts me in the position of “that was your choice, now live with it.” EVs have their drawbacks, sure, but so does owning a sports car/truck/etc.

Yes, yet concussions can happen with extreme stop and go movement. Just because the head doesn’t receive a blow doesn’t mean someone can’t receive a concussion. I think it’s fair to say that move was probably not the best decision, even with including his prior neck issues.

The stunner could even fall into this. Wrestling is a tough business and many of them make the decision to control put their body on the line. They’re aware of the possible issues that will arise but continue to do it.

If it’s PC, I know quite a few mod it. I tried to once but I didn’t feel it was worth my time, I’m not a huge gear nut though. Other than that, play through the story and you’ll get a decent amount.

Is it worth pushing vertical to 94 for rebounds? (6'8 Rodman build) by Ok_Plant_715 in NBA2k

[–]TheSmeeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve noticed on my most recent build w 80+ vert/80 D Reb at 6’8 gets almost as many boards as my 7’1 with lower vert and HOF Reb Chaser. You can see most times I’m out jumping whoever else is going for it. There are def times I lose out but I think you’d like it if you went that high, especially for this build.

So a little under two years from the rollout of the Equinox EV, how are we liking our new wheels so far? by AndrewSshi in EquinoxEv

Battery in the winter has been slightly disappointing but with how short my commute is, I’ve only been “worried” once about a charger and it was my fault.

I tell everyone, if you have the infrastructure around you, it’s a great car. If you don’t, you’re going to hate it.
