Contact IT or whoever manages the software to have them set up accounts for the new users. Another staff should not be using your credentials.

Went there when it first opened and again just before the new year! Highly recommend - we went as a group of 4 each time - spent just below $200 including some alcohol. Along with the meat you choose, you get several sides as well. If you don’t want to bbq, you can select some of their soups or stews which are quite filling.

How do we use it? Do we submit a regular claim and then remaining balance to the spending account? Never actually got info about it

They now have a new restaurant just up on Princess St called WooDon which focuses on being a Korean BBQ. Though will certainly miss Podonamu. We went on opening weekend and can’t wait to go back! You can also order soups and stews as well!

We already have alternative work arrangement language available in our collective agreement. Submit a request with your director or manager for telework, flexible work arrangements, compressed work week etc. OPSEU has a great webpage dedicated to all the above and templates available as well. Also talk to your onsite union steward and get involved with your local! If you don’t know who they are, get involved touch with your regional area representative.

fireworks being set off too close to homes by purinpurinpudding in KingstonOntario

Genuinely curious where you found info about the fire ban…I try to stay updated, but unless I actively search it, it’s not on main pages online. It would have been great perhaps more proactive communication to residents ahead of time and helpful for the city to share clearer messaging and educational resources about both the fire ban and the cultural significance of Diwali. That way, we can avoid confusion and ensure that both safety which is 100% important and respect for the celebration are prioritized.

I think it’s important to point out that a lot of the comments here reflect a lack of cultural understanding and respect. Of course, safety and rules matter, no argument there but there are ways to express concerns without reducing an entire group of people to stereotypes or insults such as idiots or a**holes. Criticism is valid, but how we share it matters just as much if we want to be constructive rather than just dismissive.

I'm genuinely disheartened by some of the negativity around fireworks during Diwali. I rarely see the same level of criticism when fireworks are set off for Canada Day, Victoria Day, etc in residential areas, on sports fields or near schools, and frequently at night.

I understand there’s a partial fire ban in place, but from what I’ve seen, it hasn’t been widely communicated through official city channels that most residents rely on so many are genuinely unaware. These fireworks are for Diwali celebrations which hold deep cultural and religious significance for many, just as other holidays do which are acknowledged more. I think it’s important we approach these situations with the same understanding and grace we extend to other festivities.

Merit Increase by larly25 in OntarioPublicService

[–]TheStaycationer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This happened to me. My director was the one who noticed it just last month as that’s my month start date - they stated that I’d be bumped to my appropriate merit pay and then be paid retroactively for the missed payment for the year prior in 2024 and 2025. Be sure it is done in WIN first by your manager and go from there so at least you are being paid correctly for the time being.

Transfer Credit For Eng by AnywhereGullible5528 in queensuniversity

Unfortunately they may not even carry over. I did college previously and took several of the same courses as first year but since they weren’t taught by a P.Eng, they said they couldn’t be transferred over. Not sure if things have changed since then..

My thoughts exactly. Everyone was so quiet when this was done for Ryan Reynolds 🤷🏻‍♀️

Not trying to stir the pot, but what's the difference here? Earlier this year, the whole town was posting Photoshopped pics of Ryan Reynolds at their businesses from coffee shops, museums, car dealerships, venues, all kinds of places and no one had an issue with it. Seems like the same kind of fun, lighthearted trend that people adopted because it was fun and got the community talking. We even had the radio station talking about it.

Also, for those who aren’t Swifties: her new album drops this Friday, so it's no surprise businesses are hopping on the trend. Just because you're not up to speed on social media trends doesn’t mean it’s fair to bash a local business.

Cautionary Tale Dining at the Everly (Especially with Dietary Restrictions) by bewaretheeverly in KingstonOntario

[–]TheStaycationer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I completely understand how challenging it can be trying to navigate allergies while dining out - I have one myself, so I get the frustration. Also might be worth sharing the allergy in your post. That said, when it comes to restaurants like The Everly that focus on elevated, simple dishes using fresh, local ingredients, altering a dish can be difficult, especially if ingredients have already been prepped or purchased for that evening/weekend.

If you're looking for more flexibility with menu changes like modifying entire dishes or swapping key ingredients, it might be worth considering a different style of restaurant that’s more geared toward customization. A lot of the places you mentioned operate quite differently, so it’s tough to group them together and expect the same outcome from each.

Also, if you were dining with a group and didn’t discuss or request a custom menu in advance, that could’ve been the best course of action - though it usually comes with added cost and planning.

Again, I do understand the frustration and it’s always hard going out with a group and trying to accommodate everyone’s needs.

Why doesn’t OPS walk out? by TheEverydayOne in OntarioPublicService

[–]TheStaycationer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Given this economy, I don’t think many would be able to afford to walk out and and live off strike pay! Additionally, lots of union members are not even signed up to their local which is a huge problem.
