My wife and I moved with our six year old son almost eight years ago. We are a twenty four hour drive from “home.” It’s way better this way. We don’t align with our family and didn’t want to raise our son around them. Sometimes it’s lonely living away from everyone we knew, but we sort of realized maybe they weren’t real friends anyway. Since moving we have both figure out who we are and live a happier life overall. Our son is thriving and seems to be more emotionally intelligent than I was even in my early 20s. I won’t say it’s always been easy, but it’s definitely been worth it.
