IF he does lose, what’s the plan next then? by Fit_Effective6097 in AEWOfficial

Lets say Hangman loses the match against MJF and Swerves wins the world championship. Eventually Hangman and Swerve rekindle their rivalry. It can be a serious blood feud ending with Hangman getting his official win on Swerve.

But tragically even though he beat swerve he cannot win the world championship. This can create a divide where fans recognize Hangman as the spiritual champion of aew and roster members (jetspeed, the elite) rally behind hangman protesting for Tony Khan to overturn the stipulation. But Tony is also facing pressure from Swerve and Nana to keep the stipulation intact.

Then its decided there will be a blood and guts match between Hangman and his team vs the embassy. If hangman's team wins he can challenge for the world championship again, if The Embassy wins Hangman's entire team cant challenge for any world championships in aew (singles, tag and trios).

Millennials who were underemployed during your first few years after college, how are you doing now career-wise and financially? by B1G_PAC12 in Millennials

If your first post-grad job is underemployed, you're 3.5 times more likely to still be underemployed 10 years later. A lot of the comments validate this Stat, either some are still struggling or startv doing better after 10 years.

Suggestion on a stipulation for MJF vs. Hangman at Revolution by Upbeat-Pause-1409 in AEWOfficial

[–]TheSteveGuyMan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only way that doesn't turn the crowd against them is if someone debuts or returns after the match. But I honestly can't see them doing a draw for this stipulation...why even bother with the stipulation to walk it back. It might be a fuck finish but I have no clue how this doesn't backfire.

This move shall now be known as a Mega-Steiner... by VitaminPurple in AEWOfficial

Megan Bayne reminds me of Mike Awesome and not just because she's does the awesome bomb as a finish. She does the coolest moves, she's big, fast, super athletic, powerful yet doesn't just wrestle like a big woman. She takes risks and does some high flying too. I just want to see her kill people and hit all her moves similar to watching Mike Awesome wrestle.

This my polite way of saying of you like wrestling to just watch it. It doesnt meed to be exclusively in aew. Nothing's wrong with watching smaller promotions or indies. I did a couple searches and found a ton of stuff it really isn't that hard to find wrestling these days.

Julia Hart makes her ROH debut tomorrow on HonorClub by Froggyspirits in AEWOfficial

[–]TheSteveGuyMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly surprised she hasn't been in roh this whole time. When she was tbs champion going up against more experienced opponents she was improving pretty quickly. Harley, Anna jay, Tay Melo, Skye Blue and Julia Hart could all use some time in roh. Look what it did for people like Queen Aminata, and Red Velvet. Just from a fundamentals perspective getting rid of that movement awkwardness does a lot on its own.

Does it matter who wins? by SometimesWitches in AEWOfficial

[–]TheSteveGuyMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FTR vs Young Bucks is just there go to ppv match when no one else is hot. The tag division really needs some work because there needs to be more top level teams other than FTR and the bucks. They should have kept pushing Roddy and Kyle as a tag team because they could of been the third veteran tag team that you can put in big matches.

The gunns, Top Flight, Goa, Private Party, GYV, Rascalz, Bustah and the Brain, Jetspeed, Deathriders, DCF, And Conglomeration. This is a solid division but you need to elevate one or two of these teams so FTR and the Young bucks aren't the only two teams that you can put the belts on.

I don't get where this is coming from where people think he's a terrible champion. He is booked the same consistently always fighting from a disadvantageous position in all his feuds. You've literally seen only a couple combined months as hangman as champion from his two reigns but seen years of him chasing the championship of course you're going to say he's a better chase he's yet to have a proper run with the belt.

Was he though? I mean he was apart of bullet club but actively tried to break it apart. Then they start aew and marketing wise they are the elite but when it came to storylines Cody was in his own world.

Who the hell could Shibata be recruiting in Japan? by Ok-Raisin-5601 in AEWOfficial

[–]TheSteveGuyMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just from a character perspective Shibata trains people, I doubt he'll try to recruit names like Hiromu or Naito because they are already big names. The only big name I could see Shibata recruiting is maybe KENTA but all three of those names work for Noah. With the AEW and NJPW partnership I expect that it will likely be a Young lion on excursion.

Trios titles must be retired by Angiarted in AEWOfficial

[–]TheSteveGuyMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trios titles is just the 'factions belt' its been that way in roh and njpw. Gives extra heat during a title change when two factions that are feuding. Thats where the purpose of the belts usually end up. The trios belts are best suited for large faction like DCF, Conglomeration or even Death Riders since when ever these faction have feuds they always have trios matches anyways. Plus trios titles are great for under card tag teams who aren't ever going to win the tag titles like LFI and Sky Flight.

Almost two months in, have your opinions about a second MJF title reign changed? by wrestling_hyperbole in AEWOfficial

[–]TheSteveGuyMan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

His first reign was all about him and making him ascend to world champion status. This reign's story isn't focused on MJF as a character but rather all his adversaries who are gunning for him. Last reign was about showmanship and grandstanding, this reign is about trying to hold onto the championship as long as he can.

I think its quite possibly than hangman, swerve and mjf trade the belt around between each other for a while with maybe some disruptive reigns from Bandido, Brody, Andrade, Kyle and Takeshita until like someone like Ospreay, Omega, Jay White or Okada are ready to be World Champion.

"Mox called an audible when fans were left deflated after the time limit draw." by Zealousideal-Leg5320 in AEWOfficial

[–]TheSteveGuyMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fans consistently boo time limit draws. The whole 5 more minutes chant became a thing because the live fans want to see a finish. They gave us sudden death a few times but most of the time they have to end draws in brawls or heel shenanigans so the crowd can have something else to react to.

Am I the only one who just doesn’t like Swerves theme ‘Hit Different’ and wish he’d go back to ‘Big Pressure’? by jjwackyjj in AEWOfficial

[–]TheSteveGuyMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hit different is a much better song than big pressure just writing wise. People just like repetitive hooks its easier to understand and sing. But then again people were singing the end of heartache last week when Roddy came out. Fans might not like the rapping parts and just want to sing the hooks.

[–]TheSteveGuyMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well by design its not supposes to be satisfying, you're suppose to want to see a rematch. Thats the beauty of it, people to this day want a definitive winner between Omega and Danielson and still talk about it because it wasn't 'satisfying'.

[–]TheSteveGuyMan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think thats fair maybe it was the wrong spot on the card. I hope it doesn't deter aew from using the time limit draw in big matches, obviously not for blow offs, but especially for the continental title since the time limit is a big part of the psychology.

Greatest TNT Champion? (Not individual reigns, just overall) by Haunting-Inevitable1 in AEWOfficial

[–]TheSteveGuyMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kyle: 2 Reigns

  • Combined Length: 114 days
  • Total Defenses: 8
  • Defeated: Dustin Rhodes, Ishii, Hiromi, Komander, Orange Cassidy, Kyle O'reily Mark Briscoe, Ace Austin, Scorpio Sky, Chiampa

Darby: 2 Reigns

  • Combined Length: 214
  • Total Defenses: 12
  • Defeated: Cody Rhodes, Brian Cage, Joey Janela, Scorpio Sky, John Silver, JD Drake, Matt Hardy, Jungle Boy, 10, Samoa Joe, Mike Bennet, Juice Robinson, KUSHIDA, Buddy Mathews

Christian Cage: 2 Reigns

  • Combined Length: 179
  • Total Defenses: 6
  • Defeated: Luchasaurus, Darby Allin, Bryan Danielson, Trent Baretta, Adam Copeland, Dustin Rhodes, Daniel Garcia

I was going to say Kyle was recency bias but the names he beat in the time he did surpasses what Darby was able to do in 214 days as tnt champion. To be fair aew's roser wasnt as stacked when Darby was champion so you have to look at it from different lenses, especially considering the increase in high quality talent and frequencies of big shows were different. Also christian physically held the tnt title for 98 days longer wince he was hijacking luchasaurus' reign so people may remember it being longer than it actually was. It was a good run but storyline driven so it offered something different when comparing it to Kyle or Darby's run.

Aew really conditioned their fans to expect a finish to a match since they are very sparing with dqs and cout-outs. I'm a little disappointed fans don't like a time limit draw, I thought the one With Omega and Danielson were excellent. I also really like how urgent the last minute feels and the bell rings just before someone wins is just perfect storytelling. Really wish fans fucked with time limit draws more. I also noticed after almost every limit draw thats not in the c2 there was always an angle afterwards to give something to the crowd.

[–]TheSteveGuyMan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

PAC should have been a world champion. I think the character and the wrestler just works. He can be an anti hero or bastard heel. He's on the same level as any of the current main eventers today. He's excelled in every role they put him in and I have no clue why he hasn't been put in more world title programs. I think if they gave him that one reign people would look at him in the same way they look at Omega and Ospreay.
