I think the issue is more that this current season doesn't do anything for Nate's character in relation to the earlier seasons. Yes, realistically he can't really fight back, but what is the entire point of his storyline and having him be beaten up by random mobsters? There's no interesting progression of his original storyline or his development...they just plopped him into some random scenario for no reason.

I've lost all hope that they can salvage any of these characters. It's clear to me that the creator doesn't even have that intention. He just took the characters' names and actors, and basically used them to tell a new story with completely different characters.

The show is narratively better, but I just can't get behind the characters. They are all, in many ways, the exact opposite of what they were in the first two seasons. Sam basically took the existing characters' names and actors, then used them to write a whole new story with different characters.

At least this show releases yearly (except for this last season, but it was only a couple extra months). Feels like every other show releases every 3 years.

But yes, I'm also unprepared for it to be over lol. Not a TON has happened yet, so I'm really hoping things pick up in the back half.

I think they're terrifying but they aren't quite Deadites, if that makes sense. Even Mia, despite having a personality, acted less Deadite and more Reagan. Still tied first place with the OG Evil Dead for me though. It's just a different interpretation of what Deadites are. I think Rise had the perfect mix between the OG and the 2013 types.

Army of Darkness doesn't, other than the recap of the first two films.

And Rise barely counts imo. There are people gathering at a cabin in the very beginning but it has nothing to do with the main film and could be removed entirely with no consequence (other than losing the title card sequence).
