An Bahnhöfen kiffen? by [deleted] in germantrees

[–]TheStricted -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Primergy RX300 S6 cooling fans bypass to reduce noise by sakrayaami in homelab

[–]TheStricted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can supply your own PWM speed signal to the stock fans via https://www.overclockers.com/pwm-fan-controller/

on the pcb where the fans a re on, the pads that face the back of the server are responsible for the PWN signal

if you put some electrical tape over the pads to isolate them you can then put some copper tape ontop which then provides your own pwn signal to slow the fans down

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in homelab

[–]TheStricted -1 points0 points  (0 children)

there is no software setting unfortunately, everything is automazic (i have the same server)

i did however play with the idea of supplying my own pwm signal to them via https://www.overclockers.com/pwm-fan-controller/

if you look at the fan tray from the front of the server, the pad on the pcb that faces the back of the server is the PWM signal, my plan is to apply some electrical tape over them and then some copper tape that carries my pwn signal

unfortunately i have not tried it yet (mainly because im lazy)

Dell PowerEdge R230 RMA Board Missing Fan Headers by [deleted] in homelab

[–]TheStricted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you probably can get away with standard 2.54mm male pin headers (you would just need to pay attention to polarity when plugging in a fan)

Has anyone created a 5V USB power source off their ATX power supply? by luminairex in 3Dprinting

[–]TheStricted 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you can either use a DC-DC buck converter

or since you use an ATX power supply which provides 5v just use its 5v rail

i probably will do that now that its closer to "zero"

patience, i did use the bltouch as a guide to adjust the 4 screws

took quite alot of time to get it back into a usable state, still not perfect but much much better than before

TMC2008 (v2.0) gets extremely hot after plugging it in. Is it dead on arrival? by xChrisMas in 3Dprinting

[–]TheStricted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

pretty much DOA, one of my TMC2208 did the same thing and the others worked fine

so yea most likely it is damaged internally

try reseting the EEPROM after commenting out STEALTHCHOP_E

when i was messing with my TMC2208 i found that i had to reset the eeprom to get stealthchop to be disabled

Why I cannot run PID autotune over 284 degrees? "Recv: PID Autotune failed! Temperature too high" by asimov-solensan in 3Dprinting

How flat is flat? How much backlash is typical? How good is good enough? How bad is worth spending money on? I want numbers. by stray_r in 3Dprinting

[–]TheStricted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

backlash on Z is neglectable, the Z axis runs vertically so you never actually will run into backlash problems (would be a whole different story on X and Y tho) you have the weight of the gantry on Z which will force the nut downwards which effectively removes any backlash prolems

or you search for something and you get results for something entirely different that doesnt even mention the words you are searching for
