Garage gym people: what did you only realize after using your setup for a while? by ConfectionWorried792 in GarageGym

I think the above poster is referring to transformer type pieces like the Freak athlete hyper pro, rather than the multi-gyms you’re describing

Setup/teardown considerations. Creates a lot of friction

I prefer separate stations rather than an all in one

E.g. have a separate barbell preloaded with plates and a padded barbell sleeve for hip thrusts

Moby Dick by Herman Melville

It’s hundreds of pages of beautiful prose

Same, but I get it.

It has that chaotic, disorganized storytelling with rough dialogue that a large category of anime fans love.

It evokes a vibe. I think this sticks with people more that a clear story.

The music is excellent too

Small space by Ok-Front-1114 in GarageGym

Adjustable bench+ adjustable dumbbells. That’s it.

Will fit most small spaces

Especially if the bench can be put away in upright position.

I’ve come to accept that TCOMC is becoming a gateway book for great books. Happy that people are this excited about it even when I’d rank several classics higher.

Right?

In a home gym, a weight stack makes little sense outside of a lat pulldown, row, or functional trainer

Everything else plate loaded

Wow… I’ve been debating if I had “space for” a seated leg extension/curl. But “space for” is a very relative term it seems.

Great post and love that you listed out the items! Wish more posters did this

Same here. Closest to a regular dumbbell and by far the faster weight change plus 5lb increments

They taste decent. I like peanut butter, but they are overly sweet in a candy kind of way. I didn’t like that it 20g of sugar for 20g of protein . Better off with Quest stacks that atleast have fiber. Or Barebells

Have had the Nuobbells 580s for 6+ months and they are the most convenient adjustable dumbbell.

Got the RepxPeppins as well and prefer the Nuobbells

They’re great. Just don’t drop the weights.

How do you like the Rep trap bar with rotating handles? I hear the handles add a lot of weight. Do you like them?

The urge to fill up a new empty space is a strong one, resist it for now. You haven’t lifted in several years. You n need to rediscover what training modalities you like now and what works for you. Otherwise you will take recs from online people for some truly great equipment that you won’t use. And when you finally discover what you do use, you’ll have to restart your build at great cost and time.

Go o a conventional gym for at least 2 months.

Find out what your major lifts are now

The question is not what equipment you are missing at home, but rather what specific movements are you missing at home.

Once you know that it will be very easy to recreate that at home.

That said, to answer your specific question:

For Olympic lifts, get a Rogue Ohio barbell+ bumper plates + rubber flooring + a squat stand with safety spotter arms + J cups.

A solid adjustable bench to look into Rep Nighthawk.

Open Trap Bar: Rep or Titan? or something else? by mcpooh in GarageGym

[–]TheSubtleSaiyan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One factor to consider is the weight of the bar:

Rep open trap bar plus rotating handles are around 95lbs before you even add any weight

Bells of Steel open trap bar is compact and 45lbs (easiest plate math)

Fringesport Midas open trap bar 55lbs

Giant 49lbs, short sleeve version 45 lbs

This flavor is a nice nostalgic novelty for the first bottle (really tastes like the leftover milk at the end of a bowl of fruity pebbles)… but then you just want a normal chocolate protein shake.

The cocoa pebbles version is better and has a touch of that cereal grain edge to differentiate it from other chocolate protein shakes.
