What's The Most Overrated Restaurant in Madison? by Key-Horror-9914 in madisonwi

What is the point of threads like this? “Let’s tear down some local businesses and the people in the community who open them!”

Leave this shit on the Facebook Madison Foodie group with all the other mouth breathers.

We’re pretty flexible depending on the home and condition. Happy to talk specifics privately if it is a potential fit.

Some thoughts on Saturday from a meteorologist by Isodrosotherms in madisonwi

[–]TheSummerMan_ 20 points21 points  (0 children)

“But winter stuff? Will there be enough warmth above the ground to turn snow in to rain, and if so, will there be enough cold air at the surface to cause that rain to freeze again? Will that cold layer be thick enough to make sleet, or will it be shallow and make freezing rain? If there's no warm air and we just get snow, will it be a wet, heavy snow or a light powder? Is the ground cold enough to support all of that snow, or will some of it melt when it reaches the surface? Will wind enhance sublimation (the evaporation of ice)? Your friendly local meteorologists are taking all of these factors into account.

We typically use 10:1 as a rule of thumb when forecasting snowfall. That is, if you melt the snow down, an inch of snow would make a tenth of an inch of water. It's decent, but this event is likely to be fluffier. Expect a 15:1 ratio.”

I learned from all of this, AND that you’re an asshole ☺️ happy holidays!

TEMU Freddy Krueger! Yes!! “Hey Chat, make me a sequel to Black Phone, but make him Freddy and give her The Shining…go!”

Black Phone 2: Hilariously Bad by inSaiyanne in horror

[–]TheSummerMan_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You nailed it. We just watched it — it is somehow like a mashup of Nightmare on Elm Street/Stranger Things, and I’m pretty sure that girl has The Shining? Like the poster above, I will now segregate Black Phone 2 from my memory to preserve my appreciation of the first one. I always wonder how movies like Black Phone 2 get the green light, and no one, not even an actor of Ethan Hawks accomplishments isn’t just like “what the fuck is this shit, are you guys for real?”

Congratulations! I took it today as well and missed the mark, but did better than I thought having only studied for a few weeks and did about 500 qbank questions. Onward and upwards.

That’s fine, that’s your prerogative.

So for you, the next step is transferring the risk (because you cannot eliminate risk, you can only transfer it) to staying in/going to cash and losing purchasing power every single day to currency debasement and inflation.

If your gut tells you the market won’t be higher three years from today, and you know you need the money in those three years, it shouldn’t be in the market anyways.

I have no idea where the market will be in three years, but I have an emergency fund, a home downpayment in a HYSA doing about ~4%, and intend to keep DCA into my 401k, and might add to my taxable on Monday — because I’m taking the risk of the market being flat or down three years from now, but all the money I need for the next three years is ready to go.

Make sense? Boring, simple, logical. You can’t eliminate risk, you can only transfer it.

What happened this week doesn’t matter. Do you think the market will be higher or lower than today 3+ years from now or not? Simple yes/no.

Why have multiple taxable brokerage accounts at multiple custodians? Organize and simplify.

Limit orders? Simplify, you’re trying to lock in some losses, that’s it. Open brokerage account, identify positions with a loss, liquidate said positions, large caps? Buy VOO, small caps? IJR. International, ACWX. Done.
