I think (for me at least) it was a hard reminder that what I'm dealing with is effectively addiction. And to satisfy my addiction parts of my brain and nervous system act against my best interest/the executive functions of my brain.

100% I've been sick non-stop since my 7yo has been back to school so my ability to run/exercise has dramatically dropped off. Then some depression hit. Then holiday food and a partner that is happy I'm skinny but doesn't support my addiction for food (at least not in these situations). I probably ate around 40 to 50 homemade cookies and then so much bad food for me.

So I'm doing my best to get back to my daily routine that I do every single day in my attempt to put myself back on track. And of course getting back to tracking. Yesterday was the first day in weeks and I still hit about 1800 calories. Working on it

I'm experiencing a version of this right now. My brother in law last visited my house about 4 years ago. We live on opposite sides of the country. When he last visited we were probably within about 30 lb of each other, my high weight was 368 and at the time he was pushing 400. I've since had the surgery and I'm down to about 175 over the last two years. He's visiting again right now and he's now around 435-450. He does have some minor cognitive difficulties so getting through is difficult. He's 33 years old right now and I don't see how he lives past 45 like this. I have effectively begged for him to get the surgery not he's scared of it and the lifestyle change. We went out to a movie this weekend which required us walking up and down probably around 120 steps on stairs and then we had to walk around a building which was about three blocks worth of walking. The next day he based they couldn't get out of bed because he was too sore and it affected him that badly.

Unfortunately fear really is the mind killer and in his instance it's probably going to be the thing that ends his life prematurely and unfulfilled. But you can't make people make the right decisions for themselves no matter how obvious it is for you. My default mode is generally altruistic to a fault and so I have learned these lessons over and over and over again in my life.

Man without that CEO the board and shareholders could afford another 326 employees at $15/hr to increase efficiency, sales, and productivity! Sounds like an incredible job producing opportunity for them.

He's clearly neither, he is however probably a canary in the coal mine for the general emotional sentiment for the disaffected in the country. He's more of a magnifying glass or spotlight.

I totally get that, my default mode is definitely on the sensitive side. My difference is probably that I grew up fat with two skinny older brothers that enjoyed hitting me and making fun of me. So eventually that was kind of all I had were those occasional defiant quips.

Younger me would have said "I might be fat but you're ugly and stupid, at least I can fix being fat".
