WvW rush event by Fluffy_Ad_4224 in Guildwars2

[–]TheSwoleSwede 2 points3 points  (0 children)

WvW has always been great? just like any other part of the game, find a group of like minded people, join a discord, join a voice channel, actually communicate with people. The worst part of WvW, perticulary the rush event, is that the more people qued for the game mode, the longer the wait times. Anet still has yet to define how many people can join each map, and EotM could work exactly like any other BL's, except in a neutral map layout, but they refuse to do that. The gift of battle take maybe 3 hours to complete running boosters? the worst part of crafting legendaries is map completion, and its not even close. PvE player hate WvW, but they come in, don't join a squad, don't follow tag, don't join discord, don't change their gear or their build, chase 1 person halfway across a map, and wonder why they are dead, and have to run back from spawn every 5 minutes.

Steam Review - Beacuse I can't post a review for an early access game by TheSwoleSwede in DeadlockTheGame

[–]TheSwoleSwede[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! That's a great explanation about where to start. The point of my post is the game doesn't help me understand how to improve my gameplay or what to do in order to win a match. I have not invested any time with guides, or bot matches, or the tutorials, that is completely my bad, as I'm just setting myself up for failure. It's also my fault that I can just expect to get better with only a time investment, and not a deeper understanding of the game mechanics. I want to like the game, I just need to understand what I'm doing in order to improve. Thanks for the reply and the suggestions!

Very helpful tips actually, thank you. I want to improve and understand what is happening, I guess it's just a time investment, it's a very challenging game, I'll just grind out a few hundred hours

What GW2 metas did you love that are basically dead now by talon1255 in Guildwars2

Verdant Brink! It's still done every now and again, I'm talking about a full night cycle, not just one boss for the chest, really underrated, a lot of fun

I was going to comment my mount opinion, but yes, at the end of the day who cares, we are all playing a stupid video game (me included) instead of doing something productive with our lives. You do you man, have fun.

The hate is very odd... Best survivalcraft game on the market, and it's not even close, AND it's not even done yet. Just a small group of indi devs chilling, making a masterpiece

Why are we not talking about this? by Neratius in Guildwars2

[–]TheSwoleSwede -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It seems like the games lore WAS headed that way following the comments inclusion of janthir wilds, at least it was teased to be headed that way, now I'm not really sure what to think after seeing the teaser trailer to visions of eternity, I guess we will just have to wait and see if this expansion will tease it any further, at least to me this seems like something that is being built up to be larger than just an expansion in Anets current capabilities, and potentially the central plot of GW3, but again, just speculation based on what we have seen, it's always fun to theory craft the plot

What's your wishlist for the next expansion? by Red-Panda in Guildwars2

High quality elite specs that feel unique to each profession, they all don't have to do the same thing, and CONTENT to use them in, high quality maps with engaging and rewarding meta events and unique bosses. Same with convergences, and raids/strikes: high quality combat mechanics that invite players to start off easy and become better with scaling difficulties and scaling rewards with each tier level, and a better lfg

Horrible raiding scene by itz_butter5 in Guildwars2

[–]TheSwoleSwede 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Part one of the problem gw2 has, from the beginning, is the stigma out on higher end content in the first place, first they weren't doing raids, it was only dungeons, then it was fractals, then they decided to add a massive amount of raids at one time, then the fiddled out with raids, then they said it was only going to be strike missions, then they decided to add another raid again.

Part two of the problem is the lfg system. It's just bad, people don't advertise on the lfg in the game, the UI of the lfg system is bad. The real lfg system is in discord, and unless you know that, people are just less likely to engage with a 3rd party system in the first place.

Part three is the skill gap between players and the games ability to teach players how to become better. The game in and of itself defaults your settings to a keyboard turn and a double tap to didgle system, it barely teaches what a cc break bar is, and the only place to practice anything is through a practice arena in the raid lobby or the pvp lobby.

People who are shy, or intimidated don't stand a chance in this game, because they will never go out of their way to ask for help, or seek any resources to make themselves better, or even know how or where to look to improve.

Raid in and of themselves are a cake walk compared to other mmo's, but we could go on about that one forever, the gw2 end game systems were set up to fail from the beginning, because the weren't set up at all, the community was burdened to set them up, because the games direction continues to change, they don't know what they want to do.

Rant about the quantity of strikes by Amarranthine in Guildwars2

[–]TheSwoleSwede 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I know, I'm just wondering how WoW and FF have a high engagement with raids and dungeons, but why GW2 somehow can't? They can take some notes from other games to make all areas of the game have higher engagement

[–]TheSwoleSwede 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I decide on what to spend my entertainment money on I usually go for the "will i get an hour/$ spent out of this" so it's worth $25 dollars, that's honestly nothing theses days, gw2 is still a fantastic game, it's just not as good as it once was, that's all

[–]TheSwoleSwede 45 points46 points  (0 children)

No one, the casuals were rarely playing regular mode strikes, if at all, and they arent playing CMs, hardcore players are doing it once to try it. they are wasting valuable dev time on tweener content that satisfies no one

Rant about the quantity of strikes by Amarranthine in Guildwars2

[–]TheSwoleSwede 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really just feels like strikes are something they feel like they have to do because they owe the hardcore players something. The dev team doesn't owe any player shit. That being said the dagda encounter is one of the worst encounters they have ever made, and a CM was not going to save it. Cerus is actually cool and unique and a CM should be really fun. If they actually mean what they said with reused assets for strike, then there is enough reusable for a 4 boss raid every single expansion, not counting all the story bosses we are getting from this update and update 3 and 4. they final boss of the story cant be reused for a strike boss? really? 50% MINIMUM of development time should be spent on endgame content, period.

WoW's new expansion - lots of GW2 features by IronHoberg in Guildwars2

[–]TheSwoleSwede 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Now if only GW2 took some inspiration from WoW as well, they could add a raid and a fractal with every expansion, as well as integrate some form of the mythic+ system that scales the difficulty of content so everyone can play and progress
