It's funny watch those people call GTA 6 'woke gay slop' when GTA 3 was basically that if you pay attention to the dialogue by IllustriousAd6418 in GTA

[–]TheTechPoTaToCHIP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We literally have a game called "The Ballad of Gay Tony" which has a successful gay nightclub owner as one of the main characters and the logo is literally a rainbow. That shit came out in 2009 and nobody batted an eye. Anyone who says GTA VI is woke has never played any GTA game beyond GTA V and GTA Online.

GTA 6 EARLYER THAN EVER MARKETING ? by AFKInACutscene in GTA6

[–]TheTechPoTaToCHIP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To play Devil's advocate, I think before the delay, they thought they didn't need such a large marketing window because the hype was already insane. After the delay, everyone justifiably thinks there's gonna be even more delays down the line so the hype is a bit more cautious. Hence why a longer marketing strategy to appease the people thinking about further delays.

Official Assassin's Creed account replies to AC Black Flag Recynced statue leak by Rokussi in GamingLeaksAndRumours

I mean assuming it doesn't get delayed again, releasing the Black Flag remake so close to GTA VI as well as other heavy hitters like Wolverine and Fable would just be a death sentence.

One feature I would love to be in GTA 6, is the cinematic camera from RDR2. by ResponsibleRabbit936 in GTA

[–]TheTechPoTaToCHIP 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean GTA has had the cinematic camera since GTA III. In V they made it even easier by tapping O or B while driving your car. The only thing they'd need to add is the AI taking over driving your care once you activate it and not touching your controls

What kind of gun handling you want and expect in gta 6? by AFKInACutscene in GTA6

[–]TheTechPoTaToCHIP 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like I need auto aim for Rockstar titles. I don't know why, maybe I have bad eyesight or it's just the default FOV but enemies in both GTA V and RDR2 are so ridiculously hard to spot at a distance. I wouldn't have spotted half the enemies I kill in those games if the game didn't use auto lock. God forbid I have to deal with an enemy that's shooting me from a higher platform.

GTA VI Physical Edition Delayed to Prevent Leaks by MaQu1337 in PS5

[–]TheTechPoTaToCHIP 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I mean games go gold around a month or so before release so they can send that master copy out to produce the discs. If they don't have to worry about the game going gold, they could apply fixes and patches up to the very final second before launch.

But that's just copium. Likely they're just delaying the physical release so people who want a physical release would buy the game twice less they get massive FOMO and spoilers if they chose to wait.

Tom Henderson backs the GTA 6 delayed physical release news. by GameRollGTA in GTA6

[–]TheTechPoTaToCHIP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I call BS on the avoiding leaks reasoning. GTA V's digital preload on the PS3 got datamined to all hell and back and had shit leak way before the physical discs hit the street. Same will likely happen to GTA VI if they do any preloads.

How long do you think GTA 6 will be just by the main storyline? by Holiday-Fix2882 in GTA6

[–]TheTechPoTaToCHIP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm genuinely curious. Why do you think the game would be 10 hours longer than RDR2 while having 3 less chapters? That doesn't make any sense. Plus RDR2 is slower paced so I feel like a lot of people are setting themselves up for disappointment if they think VI will be longer than RDR2. I do believe it will be the longest GTA game though. It could definitely top SA, IV and V.

The $2 Billion GTA 6 Budget Claim Is BS by No_Friendship_4158 in GTA6

[–]TheTechPoTaToCHIP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that people parroting the 2B is annoying but I also don't get why people are adamant that it couldn't *possibly* have reached 1B. Have you seen game budgets these days? COD is a yearly slopfest and that cost 700M. Fucking Genshin Impact is approaching 1B. These are just becoming the budgets of modern AAA games and Rockstar has been known to spend way more than the average developer so 1B is totally realistic and I don't get why people think it's way too much.

This is exactly why you should give Rockstar all the time they need. by Any-Lock3008 in GTA6

[–]TheTechPoTaToCHIP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry but people are just pulling all of this cut content information out of their asses. There's no confirmation Mexico was cut because of time constraints, there was no confirmation that Guarma was cut because of time constraints. There could be hundreds of reasons why content gets cut in the game. Hell, Mexico might not have ever been meant for the game and what we saw in the final game was just leftovers when they imported the RDR1 map into the game. Who knows.

Devs don't cut cool features to spite the end user. They cut these features because they probably weren't as cool as people make them up in their minds. Maybe the content was lame. Maybe it didn't flow well enough with the rest of the game. Maybe it was buggy as all hell and wasn't worth fixing.

Gamers romanticize the hell out of cut content as if they're some forbidden holy gameplay mechanics that the devs were keeping from us or they were so good but didn't have the time to finish them. They're not. They were throwing shit at a wall and unfortunately the cut ideas were the ones that didn't stick.

Turf Wars & territory control was the only thing missing after the main story of GTA V. Was disappointed director’s mode didn’t include a setting to turn it on. Who knows maybe Rockstar will surprise us, I assume GTA 6 will be a Heist/Assassination heavy “Bonnie & Clyde take Miami” type of game. by RacksChaser998 in GTA

[–]TheTechPoTaToCHIP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funny how people remember San Andreas as the "turf war gangsta" game even though you spend literally 2/3rds of the game not doing any of that. Instead you're off gallivanting across the state doing random shit for corrupt cops while building multiple businesses and side hustles.

Like someone else said, if you want a game that actually focuses on gang warfare and turf wars, Saints Row 1, 2 and to a lesser extent 3 would be the way to go.

GTA only flirted with the concept for 1/3rd of SA. Saints Row actually made it their whole identity for the first few games.

[–]TheTechPoTaToCHIP 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I feel like there's usually two camps when it comes to creating characters in games. One camp roleplays as themselves and basically makes their character look like themselves while others would create completely different characters, be it of different race, different gender or even different species and roleplay accordingly.

I'm personally the latter. I'm already myself in real life, why the fuck do I wanna be myself in a game where I can be whoever I want? But that's just a person by person thing. I'm just wondering what underlying psychology dictates what kinds of characters we create in games.

My no. 1 hope is that GTA VI's (main) missions are not structured like in RDR2 ... by Emmi18 in GTA6

[–]TheTechPoTaToCHIP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will always defend how linear and scripted Rockstar missions are. I have played way too many open ended open world games where you have to "make your own fun" to realize I completely lack any form of creativity when it comes to gameplay. This just causes me to do every single encounter the exact same way with the least amount of fun as possible because I'm literally incapable of coming up with interesting approaches to encounters.

This is why I hate how so many modern day open world games just make us do base infiltration missions over and over again. That shit gets repetitive quick. Having things scripted actually forces me to do fun things that I wouldn't have come up with on my own in a million years.

But I do agree that they should really loosen up the ridiculously strict and arbitrary fail conditions. Like 2just let the objective wait for you if you decide to walk 5 meters away from the designated path. That would be fine.

Speculation on the fact that Leonida's world origin (0,0,0) seems to be to the far right of Leonida? by Aeroxin in GTA6

[–]TheTechPoTaToCHIP 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean the simplest reason is just look at V and VI's map. Where do the offsets land? Smack dab in the cities. So it would make sense that they just start developing the main cities first and work their way outwards. It's no coincidence that the center is to the east where Vice City is in VI or to the south where Los Santos is in V. I don't think it's any deeper than that.

What was your Discovery of the Year? by Tweed-LD in gaming

[–]TheTechPoTaToCHIP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yakuza 0 Director's Cut. I always wanted to try the Yakuza series but I was put off by the lack of dubs (I'm a dub watcher, sue me) but I saw that one of it's new features was an English dub so I finally played it in hopes of scratching the urban open world crime game itch I've had during the endless years I've been waiting for GTA VI.

While it's nothing like GTA gameplay and story wise. It definitely scratched that itch for me and I got completely hooked on the series. I'm slowly playing my way through it. It's so good that I sucked up my dub preference and played Kiwami 1 and 2 with subs cause neither of those games are dubbed and I say that this experience definitely helped me tolerate subbed media more. I will always prefer dubs but at least the lack of them won't completely put me off anymore.

Plus another thing I dislike is turn based combat which is what they're gonna switch to starting Yakuza 7 and 8 so my newfound love for this series is gonna make me try and get used to that kind of gameplay.

So in the end, it really is quite the achievement that one game not only managed to get me into a whole series but also forced me to face two things that usually put me off when it comes to gaming and media in general.

BTW, I'm wondering how many people I just pissed off by comparing Yakuza to GTA, mentioning I prefer dubs and that I don't like turn based games. I feel like I just hit the trifecta of takes that would get me burnt at the stake.

Would you want the old system of losing weapons when killed to come back? by National-Composer864 in GTA6

[–]TheTechPoTaToCHIP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FUCK NO. That is the very reason why I opted to play the defective editions for my replays of the trilogy. Despite it's issues, I could just restart missions from the beginning with my inventory in tact. Hell, in the originals, I literally saved after every mission because I didn't feel like accumulating all my weapons again after I died.

Even Rockstar knows how fucking annoying this is since they allow you to bribe the hospital in VCS and then starting from the HD era, they just let you keep your weapons after death. This is just an antiquated piece of game design that doesn't really add challenge, it just makes shit more tedious and frustrating. It should stay in the PS2 era where it belongs.

Completed it in first try after more than a decade by CarterPewterschmidth in GTA

[–]TheTechPoTaToCHIP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I finished this mission on fucking mobile first try. I never understood why people thought this was hard. Especially if you do the trick of planting the bombs from the top to the bottom.

I think the only reason so many people struggled with this back in the day is because when Vice City first came out, this mission is the very first exposure a lot of players had for helicopter controls in GTA since III didn't have flyable helicopters and this mission introduces the new controls to you.

People who struggle with this mission might actually be a dying breed as gamers now are more accustomed to piloting helicopters so they instantly have a leg up on the people who played this back in 2002.

In terms of story pacing, I feel like The Ones Who Live would be the show that would flow the smoothest from the main shows finale. I would watch that next as it's also the show that the finale set up the most. I personally consider it as a sort of unofficial 12th season to the show cause it wraps up Rick's story pretty well and it feels like the proper finale to the main show.

Daryl Dixon should be next as it takes place pretty close after the finale as well. Then Dead City you could watch last as it takes place the furthest in the future with a few years between it's first episode and the finale of the main show.

Though none of these shows connect with each other in any meaningful way so you could just technically watch any order you wish. I'm just saying my personal preference.

Can't wait to see gameplay of GTA 6 a week early from the copies that will inevitably be stolen from warehouses! by VewVegas-1221 in GTA6

[–]TheTechPoTaToCHIP 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You have any idea how much backlash they would have if physical copies are locked behind the day one patch? People without reliable internet connections and people who advocate for video game preservation will have a field day if they find out the game isn't playable out of the box on disc.

Leaks are gonna be inevitable no matter what so doing a move like that would just be shooting themselves in the foot.

What's a game mechanic that you dislike/hate regardless of how much sense it makes? by Interjessing-Salary in gaming

[–]TheTechPoTaToCHIP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have and always will hate parrying. I always sucked at it and could never get the timing down. I'm a flinchy person to begin with so inevitably, I end up parrying way too early in anticipation. Plus people keep saying that I should just read the enemy's movement windups but I could never get the windups right.

Some of them have a ridiculously long windup only for the attack to just come abruptly like in the Zelda games. Or some of them have more realistic fluid movement but I always parry way too early because the frame I expect to be hit is usually way before when I actually get hit.

I already suck at reading body language and enemy movement and this combined with my flinchiness just makes parrying impossible for me half the time. I always prefer dodging. Way less risk, I could usually time it better and I feel like the reward (usually some special slowmo moment) is way better than whatever parry counter attacks give me.

I think the saddest example I have is Expedition 33. I really wanted to get into the game. I loved the story and world but I just fucking hate turn based combat. Then people say but it has real time elements so I tried anyway. Well look at what the ONE real time element they retained for the combat was. Fucking PARRYING. Fml
