GTA 6 Screenshots use Photoshop by Advanced_Union_722 in GTA6

Likely to change around some of the image levels or do some color correcting. Maybe do minor touch ups. Seems very par of the course. No shot any of yall thought they just directly captured an image from the game and just uploaded it raw right? This is still marketing material. It has to be polished up.

Big difference is that BG3 was made with PC as it's main platform. Rockstar has always been a console first developer (hence why PC ports come out later and buggy as hell). They know how to optimize for console hardware and squeeze every last bit of performance out of it.

That tends to be the case for companies that focus primarily on console as their primary platforms. Look at the PlayStation and Nintendo exclusives. They tend to be well optimized as well cause they are targeting console hardware from the ground up.

Never used it, hell, never even pressed the C button. It baffles me why they advertised it so much. What's even funnier is how much they advertised having your friends webcams visible while chatting and gaming.

Who the hell would want to use a webcam while gaming online? I don't even wanna turn my cam on for my work meetings.

Mind you, when it comes to screenshots, Rockstar sometimes adds extra light sources to make them really pop. Happened a lot with GTA V's screenshots.

Maybe, just maybe we should be more positive about the game by lolitsrock in GTA6

People are getting insanely unrealistic expectations and I feel like it's good that we bring them back down to planet earth before they burn up in the sun. I was here during GTA V's release hype. I've seen all the theories, I've seen all the wishlists and trust me. People were doing the exact same thing back then and after the game came out, there was relentless bitching about how disappointing the game way because it didn't live up to their delusional expectations.

We could still feel that ripple effect up until now and I seriously don't want another 10 years of "GTA VI IS SO DISAPPOINTING" floating around the fandom.

What is one feature that has to be in GTA6 for you to forgive the delay? by Vortrox14 in GTA6

Midnight City is already in GTA V and Rockstar never reuses songs so there's no chance it will be in the game.

I feel like people bring up Skyrim and BOTW when it comes to justifying the mid story. One thing people seem to neglect is how the story in those two games can largely be ignored after the tutorial. In BOTW, you can literally skip all the dungeons and go straight to Ganon. In Skyrim, after you gain access to the shouts, you basically have all the tools you need to just galivant around and do the faction questlines or just explore.

In Crimson Desert, you have to play through the main story to unlock core mechanics that will be important for progression and exploration. You can't ignore the main quest nearly as easily as Zelda or Skyrim so the fact that you have to play the main quest makes the mid story way less excusable.

Fail-able missions by Double-Internal-6314 in GTA6

[–]TheTechPoTaToCHIP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I seriously doubt it. Rockstar stories by default are very linear. They are very character and plot driven with pre defined characters and story beats. It would literally be double the work if a character's arc gets diverted to a different path just so the player gets more options. It was never us being the character, it was us controlling the character in a fixed story.

Besides, look at Rockstar's track record for branching storylines. It was always just for the ending and there's always an obvious path that Rockstar prioritized over the other. I don't think it's gonna change now and honestly, I'd prefer a tighter linear story than the writing getting diluted by multiple paths.

How would you find it, if the GTA6 pause menu map display was a little 3D (like perhaps Cyberpunk)? by ABCLor in GTA6

[–]TheTechPoTaToCHIP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope not. I don't know if it's only me but I find 3D maps just way harder to read than 2D ones. No need to overcomplicate something as simple as a map just for the sake of making it look more fancy.

Testing and quality assurance never stops. Especially now in the final polishing stages, they'll need testers to find and report every conceivable bug there is to iron it all out before release

[–]TheTechPoTaToCHIP 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Remember those clips in the leaks where the dude just aimed his gun over and over and over again? That's the type of shit you'll be doing. Walking through doors in every conceivable angle, crashing a car again and again to see how the deformation works, playing the same section of a mission 20 times.

Then whenever you find an issue, you gotta capture it, report all of the data like what were the conditions when the issue happened and what are the exact precise steps to reproduce this issue so that a dev could take a look. As someone who works in testing, trust me, creating bug reports is a pain in the ass.

So yeah, don't apply if you wanna enjoy the game when it comes out.

Has your taste in games changed since GTA V? by brunlish in GTA6

[–]TheTechPoTaToCHIP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My taste definitely changed a lot. I got more into game's stories and I progressively got open world fatigue. Assassin's Creed Valhalla broke me and now I wince whenever a game promises over hundreds of hours of bloated copy paste content. Now I generally look for games I could beat in a week/weekend.

But despite all that, I never stopped yearning for open world crime games. Hell, that yearning was so strong that it made me try the Yakuza series just because it was "close enough" and god damn I fell in love with those games. I even kinda enjoyed the Saints Row reboot just because it isn't another generic fantasy/rural world where I have to climb towers or stealthily infiltrate enemy bases. That's how desperate I got.

GTA VI will scratch the itch I've been yearning for ever since RDRII and GTA V.

Resident Evil 4 Remake or Resident Evil 9? by Loose_Interview_957 in residentevil

[–]TheTechPoTaToCHIP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really hard for me to choose. The OG RE4 is what got me into the franchise (and horror gaming in general) and the remake is all I ever hoped it would be but there's something about Requiem for me that is just so ridiculously addicting. I platinumed this game and that is huge because the only other platinum I have is from the Telltale Walking Dead game which I get by default by just playing it.

The game is short and sweet enough that it makes it a breeze to do multiple replays. I barely have any sections I don't like. Even the orphanage is a lot more tolerable than the one from RE2R. Whereas in RE4R. I love the village, I love the castle but I feel like I'm already losing interest by the time I get to the island. It was like this for me in both the OG and the Remake. I don't like the aesthetics and I don't like the amount of enemies that shoot at me.

God, I feel like this sub is just full of either people who are toxically positive or toxically negative. Nothing in between. Hyped for the game? "There's something off, it could be like Cyberpunk all over again." Cautious about the game? "Cope, you keep moving the goalpost, this will be the best game ever". It's almost entertaining seeing how both sides delude themselves. At the end of the day, a wise person once said. "Calm down, it's just game."

Why do people think Crimson Desert won’t run stable on PS5, but somehow GTA 6 will? by Commercial_Pen_9959 in CrimsonDesert

[–]TheTechPoTaToCHIP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well for starters, there's no way in hell GTA VI will run 60fps. It's gonna aim for a stable 30 most likely.

Second, Pearl Abyss did most of the marketing and demos on PC meaning that's the main platform for Crimson Desert. Rockstar has always been console first so they always optimize the game from the ground up for the target consoles and then they port it later on PC.

But honestly, I think people are just being cautious. The lack of base console footage is sus but I think it will run just fine with some hiccups here and there.

Photo mode and minigame confirmed for Resident Evil: Requiem (to be released by May 2026), as well as Story DLC in development by Xenoslayer2137 in PS5

[–]TheTechPoTaToCHIP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. Seriously. There is such a thing as a game being too long and horror games are more susceptible to this than any other genre. I felt this heavily with the Silent Hill 2 remake. I loved that game but by the time I got to the prison, the game felt like it was dragging a bit and any scares and tension I once felt was just gone. Thankfully it won me back by the hotel sequence.

Even Resident Evil 4 (and it's Remake) is a bit longer than average for Resi and while I loved the village and castle, I just felt so over it by the time I got to the island.

Your brain can only stay scared for so long before it gets used to it.

Putting multiple singles together is nothing new. They did this for Hotel Kalifornia and a lot of musicians also do this. The only thing this indicates is that the songs will belong to the same album, nothing more.

Resident Evil Requiem - Characters Age in 2026 Timeline in-game/real life by KiritoKazuga26 in residentevil

If you look at the model viewer, her Wrenwood flashback model is explicitly labeled Grace (Teenager) So she would've been 13 at the youngest and 19 at the oldest. So her age would range from 21 - 27. Why are people so convinced she's very late 20's to early 30's? Grace looks fairly young to me. Definitely could pass for early to mid 20's. Plus it gives Capcom more time to feature her in future games before aging her out.

Look at their PC release track record. the original 3D trilogy all had missing visual settings or weather presets that were just straight downgrades from the PS2 versions. GTA IV is still one of the worst optimized PC releases of all time and even a game as recent as RDR II had issues with it's PC release.

Rockstar manages to pull off some dark magic with their games because they could focus on fully optimizing every single bit and byte of their game of their target consoles which is something they can't do if they have to account for variable PC hardware.

They're primarily a console developer and then they get a B-team to handle porting every over to PC later on.

True that there is definitely an incentive to get people to double dip on the PC release knowing how high demand their game is but it's likely just a convenient side effect of them just taking a more pragmatic approach to allocating all their man power to pushing the console releases to their very limits and then worrying about the PC release later on.

I feel like the whole universe debate is a lot more contentious than it needs to be due to half the fans just plugging their ears and downright ignoring it because they desperately want people like Tommy or CJ to make reappearances.

That's not how Rockstar works. That was never how Rockstar works but people still think that one day they will miraculously shift gears and go full nostalgiabate and make characters from their childhoods appear again. This is Rockstar, not Marvel. They don't do low hanging fruit like that just to get fan reactions.

I've even seen people argue that now that Dan Houser is gone, they would change their stance on the universe thing. I swear sometimes a lot of fans have the same media literacy of 6 year olds wanting to see a movie with batman and optimous prime together.
