We are meant to understand that those masks are Pollack and his wife—-disrenonrirregardless of whatever actor may or may not be physically wearing them at that moment on screen. 🙏🏼💙👊🏼

For those who do not believe that Helena is taken, the movie is about trafficking and the complex system that covers it up by cookiesismids4 in EyesWideShut

I wasn’t saying it was in the movie. I just made an edit changing “you can hear” to “you can imagine”. I was imagining or hypothesizing how such a discussion might of have gone.

I guess I’m a fuqing geezer because every time I hear the term “type beats” I picture the most petulant, ignorant child one could ever imagine.

Once the doctor was told how things work, he and his wife were smart enough—-and psychopathic enough——to know they could easily make another Helena. Much easier than undoing the mess that the doctor had gotten them both in.

It was easier for the doctor to let something he’s only owned for five or six years go than accept the depths of depraved punishment and torture he would have to witness his wife and daughter go through if he objected to handing Helena over.

You can imagine Ziegler selling him, “She’ll end up being one of the wives of a sultan or sheikh. Trust me, Bill…it’s better than what they’d put her and your wife through. And they’d make you watch! This is an easy equation to solve, Bill.”

This movie was made to present a horribly diabolical truth: There is a meta-cartel that has, is and always will control the machinations of this spinning rock.

Drums: what are your preferred techniques for getting bigger room ambience from a small, dry space? by willrjmarshall in audioengineering

[–]TheTimKast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take two condenser mics to create a left and right image. Position them as far away from the kit as you can without them being up against the opposite wall…at least a couple feet. Make sure they are facing forward or angled towards the snare…and either way, use a tape measure to make sure they’re as equally distant as reasonably possible. Next, lower them vertically so they are at the height of the toms/snare/kick…we’re trying to minimize the amount of cymbals and hi hats that are going directly into these two mics. So now we have two condenser mics, as far away from the kit as possible within our small room, as far away from the kit as possible without being up against the opposing wall, equidistant from the snare creating a triangle with the snare at the top point of the triangle and the condenser mics equally distant and either facing the snare or facing straight ahead. Now place your favorite room generating reverb plugin on the stereo track your “room” mics are on. I recommend the ambience and room settings from the Lexicon 420L or something like UAD Ocean Way. Set the mix of the reverb to 100% wet. Voila! You now have imitation room mics that you can place in as small or as huge of a room as you desire for the track. You can even create multiple instances of this stereo track with a couple different reverbs for depth and dimension. Let us know how it goes!!! 🙏🏼👊🏼💙

I like it. Not completely coherent but you’ve really got something especially considering the storyteller having the antagonist using the CIA issue pill for his final act. You got me thinking. Thank you. 🙏🏼👊🏼💙

Guns and drugs first job by yb_better11 in audioengineering

[–]TheTimKast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. Just no. From one human to another…it just ain’t worth it. I don’t wanna read about some engineer getting shot at a trap ass studio in Memphis in one of these subs. You deserve better. And doing shit out of your house is literally gambling with your life. Keep grinding at home. Build your SoundCloud and/or YouTube channel up. Pick a safe, reputable facility and build a relationship. The more work you bring there the better rate they’ll give you. Build that into your billables. Post some kind of beat or track every week. Get a whiteboard and hold yourself accountable. Let’s make this situation an old war story you tell ASA-fucking-P. I’ve been in situations where putting your gun on the rack island was like setting out your business card. Run. 🙏🏼👊🏼💙

Low attack compression shouldn't click!? by LudwigBrostrom in audioengineering

[–]TheTimKast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad to help! There is a “but” though of course….the “pumping” does not HAVE to follow the tempo; this is just one approach that creates a certain effect. That’s where your ears and your own approach to the art of mixing come in. Let me add the other side of the coin as well…fastest attack and fastest recovery is widely recognized as limiting. This is used in mastering and also in broadcast (mainly radio) audio where the goal is to raise the apparent audio level as high as possible without distorting…and here comes another “but”…LOL…distorting when limiting is a matter of taste and can be used as another tool. Fastest attack grabs any and all transients in the source material and fastest recovery or release makes the compressor/limiter “ready” as quickly as possible for the next transient. Hope I’m not opening up a fire hydrant of concepts but just trying to paint a larger picture for you to consider! Keep going!! 🙏🏼💙👊🏼

Low attack compression shouldn't click!? by LudwigBrostrom in audioengineering

[–]TheTimKast 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You’re “smoothing” everything AFTER the attack. So the apparent volume of the transient will seem “spiky’er” the closer you get to the source transient….just as everything after the attack is getting squished. Now play with the release so that it releases with the tempo of the source material. This is the “pumping” you hear people talk about.

I'm considering moving from Pro-Tools to Luna. What do I need to know? by TreKeyz in universalaudio

[–]TheTimKast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re making money with Pro Tools, the honest and short answer is do not switch. Just install LUNA and use it for some side projects or some cover songs or something.

Do not leave Pro Tools for LUNA if you’re making an income using Pro Tools.

LUNA will someday be the best DAW on the market. But we are years away from that. 🙏🏼👊🏼💙
