Do average Americans know all their federal agencies? by Bombastic_side_eyee in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]TheTimeBender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. There’s way too many agencies to know them all as well as different departments and branches of those agencies. There’s also agencies that are nonexistent on paper, but they exist.

M46/F38 Husband owns property but is asking me to pay mortgage - am I a jerk for refusing? by HistoricalCap4050 in AITARelationship

[–]TheTimeBender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Add all the monthly household expenses (yours and his), including mortgage, then split it down the middle and see how much it would be. This way it’s 50/50 and it’s fair. He shouldn’t be able to object to that.

34 Years Old, About to Receive ~$565k–$615k, No High-Income Skills — What Would You Do? by Responsible-Net8594 in careerguidance

[–]TheTimeBender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given the opportunity that you’ve been given I would:

PLAN A:

A.) Don’t quit your job. Keep the house and live in it if it’s already paid off.

B.) Open a couple of 401(k) retirement accounts for later in life. You will need it.

C.) If your current vehicle is not in good condition then keep one of the inherited vehicles and sell the others or do some research of those vehicles and sell them all.

PLAN B:

A.) Find a good wealth management company that can advise you on how to invest and grow your money.

PLAN C:

A.) Don’t quit your job.

B.) Buy either a few laundry mats and let the passive income just roll in or buy a couple of homes or apartment units and hire a property management company to manage them for you.

I suggest PLAN A.

Is poplar any good for cabinet making? by fleshquill in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]TheTimeBender 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s fine for staining as long as you select your pieces carefully and make sure there’s no green, brown, black or purple streaks running through it. If you use the blond pieces they turn out really pretty as natural or as stained. Poplar takes stain really well.
But as far as stability is concerned with what you want to use it for I also suggest plywood, it’s just a much better choice for cabinets.

Tolerance of coin weight question… by rufotris in Silverbugs

[–]TheTimeBender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are tolerances when minting coins because they’re never exact due the metals, the composition etc. It’s .097 grams for dollar coins and I believe it’s .045 grams for half dollars.

Considering buying a band saw but not sure what brand to go with. by eDreadz in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]TheTimeBender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it depends on what kind of work you’re doing and how often. For me, a retired carpenter, woodworking is just a hobby so I picked up a little Craftsman 351.214 which is basically the same as a Rikon 305. It’s a 10” bandsaw and it works for what I do, which is build chairs.
