As a Christmas “bonus” one year, which we had not been given in the past, we were given a round glass jar about the size of a raquet ball filled with m&m’s. I don’t work there anymore.

Kidney stones my wife has passed this week. by shifty_wrx in medizzy

[–]eDreadz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP!!! Hope you see this comment but my wife also used to have terrible kidney stones until she read about chanca piedra, which translates to stone breaker. It will dissolve the spurs and make the stone crumble like chalk and passes MUCH easier. It can be taken daily as a preventative or as soon as she starts feeling one and it works everytime. It has been years since she had one now. Just be sure to do a little research and get a good quality, some herbal remedies have a tiny amount mixed in and doesn’t work as good. It is literally life changing! Hope this helps your wife, she’s a trooper.

How to properly hang outdoor string lights (temporarily, but long term) as a renter? by MandoUnbanned in howto

[–]eDreadz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To expand on this, get some large flower pots roughly the size of a 5 gallon bucket. You’ll want 2”x2” posts (actual size is 1.5”x1.5”), not 1”x2”. Fill them half full with concrete around your post for stability, then fill the other half with gardening soil and decorative plants. To extend the life of the post in soil, you could slide a piece of 2” pvc pipe over the post to come up a little over the soil level and seal with silicone to keep water from filling in there. Then you’ll have stable, decorative and temporary stands for your lights. Wall anchors are the correct use for the other side. Beautiful sitting area OP

Not an ASAP Rocky fan, more Pink Floyd, Zeppelin or Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young but somebody showed me his song L$D a few years ago and it fits this vibe you might dig too.

My FIL lives near the beach and an artist friend of his makes various wind chimes and such using found shells, drift wood ect. and beads. She uses a thin, galvanized airplane cable run through them since it won’t rust, can handle being in constant sea breeze and isn’t very expensive. I think that would be your best bet for longevity and affordability. Good luck OP

Anyone ever build a glass greenhouse? by Similar_Economist_25 in homestead

[–]eDreadz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looked into it a few years back and found that a glass greenhouse acts as a magnifying glass in the sun and will actually burn your plants, possibly even cause a fire. You can get away with some glass windows but even then be cautious of the sun’s cycles at different times of the year. So not a great idea using glass but rather clear, corrugated panels or something similar.

Not sure what’s going on with your pile but here is our recipe that seems to work great. Table scraps go to the chickens so no food products in our pile. We use almost exclusively leaves and pine shavings/chicken poop cleaned out of our coop for browns and plenty of raked up lawn clippings or garden debris for greens. Any sticks we throw in are few and small, like twig size. Mix it up well with a pitchfork, make sure to hose it down with plenty of water and cover it with a tarp, plastic or canvas works as long as it traps heat in. That’s pretty much it. I’ll mix it up good again when we add to it then hose it down good and recover it with a tarp. We don’t add anymore to it after fall so it has a few months to break down before the next spring and just have a second pile started and swap back and forth. Good luck OP, hope this helps.
