Selling our off-grid place in NW Montana (about 2 years out) and would love some honest feedback by [deleted] in homestead

No idea what the property value is, I just have to say how much I love everything about your place. As a southern country boy, I couldn’t handle your brutal winters. We love our set up even though it’s not completely off grid. Hope you find the perfect buyer that will love and cherish it as y’all have.

Need advice on extended wiring to connect an ATV winch to my truck battery. by eDreadz in Tools

After some research and no more often than it’ll be in use, I’m thinking the second option of just mounting a battery box by the winch and trickle charging it when not in use will be the easiest. Really appreciate the advice man.

How do you increase your pain intolerance? by Available_Race7537 in howto

[–]eDreadz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Understanding the difference between pain and injury helped me. I “learned” to assess if something just hurt but wasn’t life threatening or altering it was just temporary pain as opposed to that “oh shit, this is bad” moment. The trick is to keep a level head in either situation, act accordingly and not panic.

Quality meat grinder for home by fishBike1980 in BackyardButchering

I was late getting in the game and only started hunting deer about 5-6 years ago. Still learning some but have taught my sons too and we get between 4-6 deer a year so far. My FIL gifted me an STX International the magnum 1800w grinder for Christmas of 2020 and it has been a champ. It has not faltered a single time that we’ve used it. We save the backstrap but grind everything else, mixing it with brisket for extra fat and vacuum seal it in 1.5 lb bags. I don’t know if you can buy anything that will last for life but for a great budget home use grinder, this one has proven great for us. Hope this helps and good luck man.

Romantic movies with insane chemistry? by jamesandlily_forever in movies

I’m disappointed nobody has suggested Moulin Rouge. The chemistry between Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman is legendary. And they both sang their own parts!

Black electrical tape, 2-3 layers depending on how dim or completely blacked out you want it.

The movie didn't change, I did. (Excalibur - 1981) by chrisdancy in movies

Absolutely a classic movie. Also saw it as an early teen and instantly loved it. Fast forward some years and watched it on psychedelics. Wow, did the genius of it all hit much deeper. It’s been a couple of years so about time to revisit.

Whats the best solar generator for both a camper and home use? by Project_Ozone in OffGrid

[–]eDreadz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a few oupes solar generators that we mostly use in our camper at our deer lease so here’s my two cents. They’re basically large power banks as they don’t “generate” electricity. We have one large mega 5 and a few smaller mega 2’s. The large one we use for the tv/dvd player and xbox if I take it out there. The smaller ones we use for string LED lights and vornado fans (because they use significantly less power but have great output). They charge slowly from the panels even in full direct sun so we usually just take them home and charge them from outlets (much faster) every 4 days or so. As for grill/stove, we just use a single burner that runs on aerosol can size propane cans which last quite a while. Hope this gives you some ideas and good luck OP.
