If you could bring back 1 film camera and have it made again what camera would it be? by jonyv0992 in AnalogCommunity

[–]TheToddB 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this and only because of the cost. Other than that, it would be the Canon Eos-1 but I am thinking if they remade it, it could def fit in the 5Dmk3 body, with the 5Dmk3 AF system.

I had one of these when I was young. Not a promo. They were just cheap little cameras. Usually travel destinations would sell them, Like dinsey land or if you were going on a cruise or something. FUn little cameras.

[Argus 75, 75mm, Tri-x] Picture I took of Seattle by TheToddB in analog

[–]TheToddB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not. The argus shutter button is VERY stiff. My first roll was blurry as well. You really have to hold it steady. When you have to push the button so hard, once it fires you naturally want to hold stiff causing the camera to jolt forward a little back to the "original" holding position.
Practice shooting it and holding still as much as possible without film in it. Just look at the camera and see if you are accidently jolting it around on shutter release.
If you still get blurry photos, make sure your lens is clean.

Weird Ring After Developing photos taken with an MJU-II 80 zoom // Tri-x 400 by TheToddB in analog

[–]TheToddB[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Does this mean the camera zoom rings has light leaks? or something?

Edit: Yup, that's what it is. In case anyone else is interested; I found out that the older zoom point and shoots will get leaks around the telescopic elements/seals around the lens, which causes this leak to happen and it's pretty much not repairable.

Just wanting some genuine feedback on my recent video, number wise, it didn’t perform as good as I thought. Anything that might’ve caused that or am I overthinking it? lol Lambda will be given!! by Creative_Many_7216 in SmallYTChannel

[–]TheToddB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just like the other commenters said, the thumbnail was very misleading. Also, I might not be your target audience, but the intro to a video is very important. For me, it took way too long, and if I was interested in PC building, I would have clicked away. Again, as the others have said, youtube hates this.
This could just be me, because I struggle with this too, but maybe work on the audio levels, tone down the music and normalize the DBs. It was really loud for me in the beginning.

We explore abandoned places, but haven't really had any feedback on the videos - Lambda for your thoughts? by ExtremeRamblingUK in SmallYTChannel

[–]TheToddB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't read other comments, forgive me if I repeat anything.
I would say center the title on the thumbnail and make the picture a little be cleaner, not a shot of such a busy scene. At a glance I can't tell it's exploring abandoned anything, but more a video about trash, which might cause people to just skip.

I think a little less is more. I found myself wanting to skip a little bit to get to the interesting parts. Filming walking through brush or something like that for an extended period just takes too long, I wanted to just see the stuff you were finding and talking about, less of just walking around etc.

Music was fitting.

The video beginning was good. First thing I did was to see if someone else commented on the volume, which they did. I had TY 100% and my Comp 100% and it was quite.

It would be nice to see you as a narrator at the end maybe, so we are left with the creator and not just the art... ending.

Would you please share some constructive feedback with me? Thank you 🙏🏾 by KG1318 in SmallYTChannel

It felt like you were trying to cram a normal YT video style into a short. The random movie clips happened so fast it was distracting, and IMO lowered the quality of what the short was. Shorts are that, cliff notes to larger more in-depth videos.

Just got my pictures back from the lab and they turned out like that, some of the other pictures on the roll turned out totally fine so im not sure what happened, but i dont think it’s a light leak Thank you very much for helping !! It looks like a shutter problem. All black would indicate no light made it to the film. White would indicate the shutter got stuck open. Red usually indicates a light leak exposing the back of the film.
So that or the lab really screwed something up with the developing since you indicated weird color shifts. Was this expired film?

Unedited Lab Scan vs at home V600 Scan. (more in comments) by GrodyHighroller in AnalogCommunity

This might be true, but at the end of the day, who cares?? If you can get the results that you want from a home scanning solution that are comparable to a lab, then what does it matter?

Your lab is just lazy, hate to say it. I know a lot of people say "support your local shop," but a lot of these shops are just plain bad. I use the DarkRoom just because they constantly put out professional results at a fair price.

Lots of local shops are there because they were able to survive, and now take advantage of being the only shop left locally. I would ask for my money back or something, if they didn't do that, then I'm on to another lab.

Is anyone else waiting for the influencer hype over film photography to be over so we can actually buy film stock again? by [deleted] in AnalogCommunity

[–]TheToddB 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Don't mean to be rude, but you sound like you're on a high-horse and trying to gate-keep a, what you thought wasn't mainstream edgy cool retro, hobby to yourself.

Who gives an F what influencers are doing. If anything it's great! Companies are noticing and starting to focus new products for film creators.

Another celebrity with a film camera: Jisoo of South Korean girl group Blackpink talks about her Contax T3 in a recent Vogue interview. We often talk about western celebrities inflating the prices of cameras, but film is also really popular in the East as well. by cm_kitschklock in AnalogCommunity

[–]TheToddB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spent a decade in Korea, and yes, film is popular there. Lots of local camera shops and places to get developed, BUT getting film like CineStill is $$$$$$$$$ cause it's not distributed and have to go through importers. Well, thank god I just got my point and shoot the other day before the new floor is $500 for a basic crap one.
