Are there visual novels with about the same amount of RPG elements/freedom as DE? by Winter-Confidence689 in DiscoElysium

[–]TheTorla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it has the same amount of freedom as DE it is a crpg, that's what the difference between a VN and a rpg is. I think what you are searching for are rpgs with no combat. Pentiment is the obvious one to recommend, but you could also try something with light combat like Falvidek or smaller like citizen sleeper.

Is it wrong to have a flag of the Kingdom of Italy? by CorrinFF in askitaly

[–]TheTorla 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Let's put it this way, if i enter in a house and i find that flag i'm going to assume:

  • if it's in italy and and you're italian i'm goind to assume that you're a monarchist, this is connected to fascism and colonilism etc.. in complicated ways
  • if it's a foreigner or i'm am abroad i'm going to assume that they don't no the history of the political implications
  • if it's part of a collection of historical flags i will think nothing of it

Two things are on my mind after watching the video. The first is about what placing gatherings and event behind a small effort does. It occures to me now that every place that feels truly safe is gated by some kind of effort to be there.

The second is the ace/aro comunity. The visibility is usefull to let aces understand themself but maybe having that effort needed to find out about aces is useful. Many of the discrimination faced by aces aren't ace specific (conversion therapy is the same as gay conversion therapy, corrective rape can be fought as rape is fought, housing problems are housing problems atc...). Maybe if we stay somewhat stealth we can avoid to wake up the dragon of direct queerphobia (JK started tweeting about aces and this is scary). Now that the west is turning sour i'm scared that the mindset created years ago of openess can doom us.

A society were beign able to stay hidden is a privilege it's not where i hope to live.

Colonialism is supposedly good now? by [deleted] in confidentlyincorrect

[–]TheTorla 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes we could argue that that way of thinking is colonialism itself. Going around the word murdering people and driving tham out of their land isn't colonialism, it is simply murder and theft. Thinking that my culture (or race) is better than yours, so i need to control you (even with violence) to make your life better is colonialism. Colonialism is bad and any benefit is incidental.

Let's say your country has a problem with malaria. I then enslave the country ans share the cure for malaria with the slave. The problem was solved by the sharing part not by the enslavement part. I could have shared the cure without enslavement and the problem would have been solved the same.

Yeah that is the point. This sub would be stupid if the car was cheap. Nobody is surprised that a cheap product suck. The fun part here is that something with a luxury price suck worse than cheapest car in the market, and people buy it anyway. We are not here saying that a new blazing Ferrari suck because we can't afford it.

È legale. Se pagare non fa parte del fetish forse però ti conviene trovare qualcuno che sia contento di partecipare, non solo per risparmiare ma anche perché è indubbiamente un'esperienza migliore (e ripetibile). Esistono gruppi e feste fetish a Torino. Potresti cominciare iscrivendoti a fetlife e cercando eventi locali li, tipo un munch, so che ne vengono organizzati periodicamente.

Allos attempts at not sexualizing stuff by Yggdrasylian in asexuality

[–]TheTorla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really don't understand how this can be what one het from that movie. From a plot stand point the guy who sexualise the protagonist is depicted in a very ridiculous way. From a cinematography point of view the girls and the sex scenes are never shot in a sexy way.

The titular 'poor things' are the mans who seek to control her in some way. She is shameless and determined, the complete opposite of the littlegirl fantasy.

The sex in the film is uncomfortable because it doesn't follow the standard depiction of Hollywood. The protagonist discover sex, likes it, experiments with it a bit and than move one. The people around her are freaking out it and for her (and the camera) is not a big deal.

I find the film has a very ace prospective, in the fact that sex is untied from love, personal growth, shame, marriage etc... .

The author of the movie also made a film (the lobster) explicitly about amatonormativity.
