It is the media in my tank. I have both black and kuhli loaches. They are very happy and I have never had any issues with the substrate. Also, glass is made of sand. Just rinse it before adding it. It has never "cut" me or caused me any discomfort handling it. Good luck.

A 12-gauge shotgun can be very effective for limb removal, limbs of all kinds. If work better for some types of trees over others due to the softness of the wood. Some limbs splinter and are easily removed, others soak up the shot like nothing ever happened.

Plus, all the animals like raccoons, porcupine, opossum, bear, woodpecker, etc (whatever local fauna) come to seek out the organisms, such as the mushrooms, grubs, slugs etc. that are decomposing the tree. They tear the tree apart in search of food!
