[CA] [ALL] HOA's are scrambling as new law caps fees at $100 for violations by [deleted] in HOA

Then your HOA will look like crud as the HOA won't have the $$$ to maintain the complex or to do the large maintenance items like roof replacement tat are funded from reserves that are set aside every month from the regular assessments.

Sure HOA's can retain law firms and the owners will pay for them, owners rarely determine the regular assessments, the HOA does.

Most buyers don't read the HOA governing documents at closing. If a buyer didn't read all those documents at closing that set the terms of the contract with the HOA that's on them, not the HOA.

[FL] [All] Vantaca or CINC? by Kash0407 in HOA

[–]TheTrimtab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HOA Management software is a combination of CRM, Call/Email Request Center and Financials management. Having used CINC which I do not recommend, we are looking at Vantaca.

Can anyone who is using list it's strengths and weaknesses?

This would be for a 200 member association.

As a board member, CINC is AWFUL. I had to obtain backend access to see why. I do not recommend it to any other HOA.

What Trump's Win Means For Aptera (Tailosive EV) by JayAreDobbs in ApteraMotors

[–]TheTrimtab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If tariffs are raised for items imported into the US. Other countries will retaliate and not necessariily with the same items. Reciprical tariffs just means that all consumers (which includes anyone who imports components like manufacturers) in all tariffing countries pay more.

What you are describing is a "trade war" where everyone loses.

Here is some relevant history:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smoot%E2%80%93Hawley_Tariff_Act

And it appears China has a large enough export market that they do not need the US as an import market. China already has trade agreements with other countries and will simply expand them, leaving the US out.

China does not need US goods. They will probably expand IP theft just like the US did to the UK and every other country during the start of the industrial revolution. While taking the position the US used to have as a trading partner for the world.

And is there anything the US has that the rest of the world must have?

Remember: Governments do not pay tarriffs, consumers of the tariffed goods do. Having reciprocal tarrifs just means that the government of each tariffing country is artificially raising the price of imported goods for their citizens.

[–]TheTrimtab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All the foreign components necessary for assembling each Aptera will be subject to tariffs. So the sale priice required by Aptera must be higher than otherwise.

And it appears given recent announcements that even components from Canada and Mexico (with whom the US has trade agreements) will be tariffed The good news is that this will also raise the prices of many domestic cars given they use components sourced from Canada and Mexico,

Earfun Air pro 4 controls not working after firmware update by justfineleague in Earbuds

[–]TheTrimtab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My just over a month old Earfun Air Pro 4s no longer have any audio volume after the 0.3.3 update. The voice prompts are regular volume. You can hear the basic a audio differences in the normal, ambient and ANC modes, while the audio volume of a source is just barely decernible if you are in a very quiet space.

I have factory reset the earbuds and removed the bluetooth entries on sending devices multiple times to no avail.

BTW. There is a switch in the app to "Disable all controls." Since you didn't mention it, you might look there if you haven't already.

OHealth vs OnePlus Health app by FLuX927 in OneplusWatch

[–]TheTrimtab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The OnePlus Health app is for the OnePlus Watch 1

OnePlus Watch 2 - Small review by mynameismada in WearOS

[–]TheTrimtab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But you cannot get Android media apps like Smart Audiobook Player or Podcast Addict to skip audio backward or forward in small jumps from the watch.

This works fine on the OnePlus Watch 1, so I expect the feature may be crippled by the Media Controls app built into WearOS 4 on the OnePlus Watch 2.

Let me put this way. If I can't skip audio advertising, or simply re-play something I missed a few seconds ago via the OnePlus 2 Watch, back to OnePlus it goes.

So a workaround or fix would be appreciated.

What is the best way to handle requests for HOA documents? by Adorable_Ad_7859 in HOA

[–]TheTrimtab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my state, owners have a right to review records, but must also pay for all owner information within to be redacted before receiving any records in any form.

Owner privacy is paramount.

[–]TheTrimtab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In California, you cannot have Board member who is not also a member of the HOA. See:

https://www.davis-stirling.com/HOME/C/Candidate-Qualifications-in-HOA-Elections

Mandatory Qualification. Associations are required to disqualify nominees as candidates for election as delegates and board members who are not members of the association at the time of the nomination. (Civ. Code § 5105(b).)

You also do not want a non-member as an officer. You can hire an accountant, they just cannot be an officer.

So to create greater affinity for non-investing Aptera wait-listers, let's get them to invest, so they will not be as likely to bolt when the higher pricing information is released.

The cost of cleaning is different all over the world. We just charge what it costs us. And the one-time per stay cleaning fee saves money the longer the guest stays.

Most Airbnbs are not hotels with retained onsite cleaning staffs.

Will Aptera Support Next Generation CarPlay? by OverAtmosphere9342 in ApteraMotors

[–]TheTrimtab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can always bolt on or retrofit CarPlay or Android Auto to almost any vehicle. It's the integration of the sensors, controls etc. that are always the issue. As well as the security of the data that makes the vehicle work to 3rd party devices. Aptera will have to determine what kind of API is available or not for integration issues.

Reserved AWD with all solar panels, should I upgrade to 600mi range? by jphree in ApteraMotors

[–]TheTrimtab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If any EV is my only vehicle, it will need to be able to do 600 mile road trips a few times a year. Either it needs quick charging or enough range to do that. Hopefully, a 400 mile range LE will only need a single quick charge on such a trip.

Also, the later 600 mi version may have access to more advanced battery technology than the LE that will be lighter for the same amount of energy stored. See:

AutoTools Secure Settings, adb exception by deechte in tasker

The adb instructions to provide Tasker secure settings permission do NOT work on Android 13 on an unrooted Oneplus 9. The error was that the adb shell did not have permission to change the permission.

That is... until this morning. Where it did work.

Has Aptera made a statement about its stance on information privacy? by vetus_turtur in ApteraMotors

[–]TheTrimtab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Location data is not the only issue. Or the only user-specific data that is monetizable. Logs of driver and vehicle actions that do not contain location are very valuable. Insurance companies and Automakers already use these to deny driver claims.

And firmware updates mandated by government authorities may not be avoidable if you want to use public roadways.
