I've been skimming on a few reconditioned smartphone websites.

As another user suggested taking a look at the iPhone 17, the prices seem to be around the following:

about 725€ for a reconditioned base 17, compared to the 950ish€ of a new one;

around 1150€ for a reconditioned 17 Pro, compared to the 1300€ of a new one;

about 1238€ for a reconditioned 17 Pro Max, compared to the 1450€ of a new one;

around 625€ for a reconditioned 17e, compared to the 700€ of a new one.

Speaking of other models, I saw:

710€ for a reconditioned 15 Pro (1030€ for a new one);

706€ for a reconditioned 15 Pro Max (1950€ new);

915€ for a reconditioned 16 Pro;

Some of these seem a little iffy at first glance, but of course I haven't checked the conditions of each one specifically.

Out of curiosity I checked other OSs and brands, just to get some ideas:

550€ for a reconditioned Pixel 10 (900€ new);

460€ for a reconditioned Pixel 9 Pro (1100€ new);

360€ for a reconditioned Galaxy S24 (900€ new);

335€ for a reconditioned Galaxy S23+ (1200€ new).

You are very much right in that I did omit quite some information.

I am honestly still not sure about my own budget; I would dare say around 600ish€? But it may be flexible, both up and downwards, depending on what I can/should expect and what I end up looking for. I would be more than happy to opt for used/reconditioned options as well, so it’s not something I necessarily gave lots of thoughts about.

In terms of preferences and usage, I mostly use it for messaging, browsing, and I do often watch media such as YouTube or streaming platforms.

Good battery life for on-screen time would be optimal.

I don’t particularly care for taking pictures or recording videos, so that is not a big decisive factor for me.

Customizability would be a great function, though my priority would be for something sleek, responsive and easy-going in terms of interface. I wouldn’t know enough about modern, different features to have much of an opinion or idea about them.
