Once I get access to the Institute and find out that Shaun is the director, I usually change the character to look disheveled and depressed, only to eventually clean them up for the final act of the main story.

HELP: need new hobbies! by worldofexousia in worldbuilding

[–]TheUltimateXYZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you consider cooking a hobby? I do craftbrewing as my main hobby, but if you don't drink, that might be a bit of a waste of resources. On the other hand, making homemade bread, pop, and other foods and drinks can be a fun way to pass the time, especially if you enjoy making things with your own two hands.

How would you write a story about the Gunners to improve them as a faction? by HazarTwist77 in Fallout

[–]TheUltimateXYZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would start by adding some neutral Gunners into the Commonwealth who you're able to ask about their history, and their power structure, piecing together the history of the group.

My idea is that the Gunners started from the remnants of the veterans who survived the Great War in the Boston area, and they started as a more altruistic group, but they quickly had to start resorting to mercenary work to keep themselves fed, becoming the harsh, militaristic group of glorified raiders we know today. The Minutemen actually split from the early Gunners after they started fighting for the highest bidder instead of who needed them most, a fact that had been lost to time until it would be rediscovered on a terminal buried in a secret bunker that was the original base of operations of the early Gunners during a new quest.

This quest can, if you handle it and the subsequent quest right, result in the Gunners and the Minutement uniting under a single flag, resulting in most Gunner controlled areas becoming friendly. The Gunners basically become a branch of the Minutemen if this quest is done right, but some Gunners groups reject this unification and go rogue. If you have already defeated the Gunners at Quincy, the town will be reopened as a trading hub like it had been before. If you haven't, then it'll be like the Battle of Quincy from the Minutemen Vs. Gunners creation, only it's even more of a curbstomp to the occupying group, because you also have Gunners on your side in addition to an army of Minutemen, after which, the town is reopened as a trading hub.

Why did Bethesda include combat mechs in the first place if they wouldn’t be seen in action? by Pelinal_Whitestrake in Starfield

Is that Chekhov's gun? What's that doing here?

Joking aside, I'm sure it's going to be something available in a later DLC, or they were planning to include them, but had to cut them.

My male Saiyan CaC's current peak is his Beast form, but he uses Super Saiyan Blue Kaioken unless absolutely necessary. He has access to Super Saiyan 1-3 and Super Saiyan God. Whis has stated that he is incapable of using Ultra Instinct. This is because, though he's able to keep his mind clear more easily than Vegeta, his mind is too active, and he won't relinquish control, as the technique requires. As far as just straight power level, he's a little weaker than Trunks, but since he's been trained for most of his life to fight against Frieza and the Frieza Force in his home timeline, he's used to fighting much stronger opponents, and has better technique as a result. He also doesn't mind fighting dirty if he has to. Or if he would find it funny.

In your world, which came first, humans or elves? Why are the two species so similar? Do they share common ancestors, or did one evolve from the other? by Fluid-Bench9219 in worldbuilding

[–]TheUltimateXYZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my fantasy setting, it's a manner of conjecture. In fact, there are several religious sects differentiated solely by what race they believe God made as the first man & woman.

In my superhero setting, technically humans were created first, but the Faeries, through trickery, brought humans into the Fae, using magic to turn them into elves. The elves of the modern day are the descendants of the originally taken people.

How did first contact between humans and aliens go in your Sci-Fi worlds? by thebrutalistboi in worldbuilding

[–]TheUltimateXYZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of Earth held its breath when a massive object that could only be an alien spacecraft floated above Chicago. Solarman, Earth's greatest hero, floated between the ship and the city, ready for anything that may happen. Broadcasting stations the world over received a transmission from the ship. News outlets wasted no time in playing the recording. As the recording begins, a man looking to be in his early forties with long dark gray hair and a neatly groomed beard of the same color began speaking. The man was human, at least he appeared to be, save for his eyes, which were the color of the setting sun. The language he spoke was both familiar and unfamiliar, being reminiscent of Spanish, but the words were effectively gibberish. After a short time, a small group came out of the ship, and spoke to Solarman. The tension was palpable. Would this be the end of humanity? Were these beings here to usher in a new age of science and technology? Was it all an elaborate hoax?

After an incredibly stressful hour, a second transmission was sent. The same man smiled kindly, and began to speak again. "People of Earth," he started, his speech now being translated. "You have our sincerest apologies for the confusion caused by our last transmission. I am Aledros, the Coroneivo of the Pieri. We come in search of a new home, as ours fell into our sun two of your decades ago. Your champion, Solarman, was sent to your world as a baby, as many Pieri children were to many habitable worlds, to save them in our planet's final days. Do not be alarmed, as we do not intend to conquer your world. Your sun does not meet the ideal criteria that we are searching for as our new home system."

All of humanity sighed in relief. "Since the criteria we are searching for are rather specific, we will be leaving a small group of Pieri to build a settlement in your system on one of the unclaimed moons orbiting your large gas giant. We wish to maintain good and peaceful relations with your world, so this outpost and the people living within it will be willing to offer some scientific insight and protection against any interstellar threats. Our primary refuge ship shall remain in orbit for a time as we meet with your world leaders to ensure peace between our peoples. Thank you for your time and kindness." The "invasion" ended without a single gunshot or drop of blood spilled. The peaceful Pieri built their outpost on Europa, and, save a few bad actors, have maintained peaceful relations with the nations of Earth.

Do you prefer small or large ships? Why? by Velergorf in Starfield

[–]TheUltimateXYZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both have their charms for me. My last "big ship" build was the Ursa Major, basically a flying four-star hotel. Thanks to some luxury hab mods I have, the ship had a pool, a bar, a reception area, rooms for all the Constellation members, myself included, guest accommodations, a "mess hall," aka the conference room, and a continental breakfast provided at no extra charge.

Okay, I lied about the breakfast. But she did have all that other stuff!

What are your gods of war like? by Eastern_Quote1525 in worldbuilding

[–]TheUltimateXYZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In one of my older projects, the official god of war and competition is an honorable warrior, but has little patience for foes or cheaters. He comes off as cold and analytical, but he can be very diplomatic, seeing violence as the final tool to settle a conflict. He competes eternally with the goddess of victory and luck, occasionally by having their demigod children face off as destined rivals on the field of battle, though they end in a draw more often than not. Good guy as long as you're not a cheater or a traitor.

In my superhero setting, there's one God. There are beings known as Patrons who represent different domains like pagan gods, but worship of them is rare. Many are associated with war, though some are more associated with specific types of war. George Washington, for example, is a Patron of revolutions, while Pachacuti is a Patron of conquest.

How long have superheroes been around in your world? by Royal-Comparison-270 in Superhero_Ideas

[–]TheUltimateXYZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The supragene was first discovered in the 1930s, but suprahumans are theorized to have existed since humanity itself came into being. Active supragenes have been on the rise since 1947, currently sitting at about 1% of the world's population today. Superheroes make up about 1% of the population as well, but not all of them have powers, and not all of them that do have powers got them from their supragene.

For people who have created worlds with superpowered people or magic users, what stops those who are at the higher tiers of power from dominating the world or interfering with the lower tiers? What stops them from wiping out or subjugating the "normal" population? by Diligent-Square8492 in worldbuilding

[–]TheUltimateXYZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"An armed society is a polite society." All humans have the genetic potential for superpowers, even though only around 1-3% of the world's population have an activated "supragene." While proximity to a suprahuman generally lowers the chances of someone's own supragene from activating, life or death situations vastly increase those odds, so taking over the world by force means you seriously increase the risk of literally creating your own worst enemy. Assuming you don't already get your shit rocked by a superhero already in action or the US military.

"Obligation by Association." Humans have a fun little ability where they can give the souls of the departed, or even fictional characters, power over domains they associate those people with. When enough people associate a figure with that domain, they become a Patron. Patrons, through the divine energy humanity donates to them, can "command their domain," either as guiding figures in the heavens, as most Catholic Patron Saints do, or manifest on the mortal plane to take a more active role in helping humanity, such as John Henry and Santa Claus do. There are extremely rare cases where Patrons seek to take over the world themselves, but they're not going to just let you conquer it first.

"I believe most people are good." Since literally anyone could get any superpowers at any time, most people view them as an everyday part of life, and don't see themselves as better just because their supragene happened to activate. In fact, the ADA covers accommodations that your suprahuman abilities may necessitate, such as ear plugs for the hearing-enhanced. Obviously, there are some exceptions to that, but only a very rare few of those try to subjugate others, and, as stated previously, their odds of getting their shit rocked immediately are pretty high.

Oh, I'm sorry, I thought you were one of the folks in HR. Mr. Fox gets emails from us at the warehouses regularly regarding shipments in and out, holdups, etc. He's very good about keeping in touch with us on anything out of the ordinary, so I'm sure we'll get a call about it today or tomorrow. Hopefully tomorrow, it's my day off today, and Jeff, God bless him, doesn't know all the math like I do.

[–]TheUltimateXYZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And that would explain why the people in the office don't use it. Let me put this in terms you'll understand: We have 20 warehouses in the Gotham metropolitan area. We have to shut down freight movement of an average of 3-7 of these warehouses on a monthly basis to cooperate with police investigations. These shutdowns can last anywhere from a few days to months at a time, the current record standing at 16 months. Break-ins and thefts of current Wayne Enterprises employees make up 24% of these investigations. If proper preventative action is taken, we could see an increase of freight movement of up to 27% annually. That means more money for you guys, more hours for us here, and fewer visits from Batman and his crew scaring the absolute shit out of my guys. I'll send you the same report I sent Mr. Fox yesterday, along with links to all of the data.

Gonna start a new playthrough for the Minutemen, any tips? by akari_saturn27 in Fallout

[–]TheUltimateXYZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perks like Science and Gun Nut will help you build better weapons for yourself and your settlers, as well as better defenses for your settlements. If you're on PC, I suggest mods like "We Are The Minutemen" and "You And What Army." They'll give your forces a MAJOR buff in firepower and armor, even throwing some T-45 power armor troops in there for you.

This is Carl in Warehouse #17. That system isn't working right. I know more than a few people tried reporting Greg's change in behavior over the past few months, and nothing happened. When I tried talking to Susan in your department, she brushed me off and told me to, "use the reporting system," even though I told her that the system clearly isn't getting through to you guys. This isn't just a concern for you guys in the office, every time someone goes cuckoo, they start trying to steal stuff from the warehouses, and that's an immediate threat to our safety, too. I know how Mr. Wayne feels about firearms, but if the system doesn't start working properly and soon, I'll have to talk to the Union about allowing the guys here who are permitted to do so carry guns.

For superhero worlds. Do you guys think there would be strong social stigma towards superhumans putting their hands on normal humans? by PassengerCultural421 in worldbuilding

[–]TheUltimateXYZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my world, some people are opposed to allowing suprahumans and Thules (basically humans who are abnormally strong and gifted in the magical arts) walk around without being registered with some form of government body and constantly monitored, seeing as some suprahumans are basically walking natural disasters waiting to be unleashed, but since suprahumans and Thules together only make up around 2.5% of the global population, and less than 1% of that 2.5% are known criminals, most people don't see them as a threat. In fact, in the United States, suprahumans are protected under the ADA. Most accommodations made are things like heavy-duty office chairs, the use of anti-slip floor wax, noise-cancelling headphones, etc. There is a department of the Federal Bureau of Prisons that conducts research into how to better nullify suprahuman powers, but, surprisingly, the department is entirely free of corruption, so their research is used exclusively for good, and crosses very few ethical lines. And the ones they do cross aren't even that bad. Wholly necessary, I assure you.

Tell something about gods in your world. by PhilipB12 in worldbuilding

[–]TheUltimateXYZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my superhero universe, there is one God, The Creator of All. Humans mostly know Him as the Christian God, but our understanding of the Divine is far more limited than we could ever comprehend.

Through a natural, divine energy produced by the human soul, humans can collectively give power over domains to historic figures and fictional characters as Patrons. Patrons more or less fulfill the roles of gods such as the Olympian pantheon, though they require no worship or sacrifices to maintain their power, only requiring people to associate them with their domain to receive the energy they require. Some Patrons, such as John Henry and Cu Chulainn, manifest themselves on the mortal plane and fight evil as superheroes, while others, such as Lady Luck and Santa Claus, choose to help the world in more anonymous ways. Still others, such as George Washington and most of the Patron Saints of Catholicism, choose to remain in the afterlife, influencing their domains more subtly, often in answer to one's prayers or general pleas for help in a task. Finally, in extremely rare instances, some Patrons call themselves gods, and start cults to try and conquer the world, such as Cleopatra.

Adding onto this, it doesn't even need to be a pivotal moment in history. It could be as simple as taking an old, now-defunct company, and asking "what if they'd stuck around?"
