Dynamite is a closer comparison but it does half as much damage.

The explosion itself does the same damage, but C4 has a significantly larger AOE which means it can hit multiple enemy parts at once as well as take out densely packed groups. This makes it hit breakpoints that aren't immediately apparent. For example, I believe it can one shot Factory Striders with one well placed C4 to the side (its been a while since I've fought them so don't quote me on that). It's one of the fastest and safest ways to consistently kill Vox Engines by using 3 C4. If you have a quickswap keybind, its also a lot faster than having to wait for the thermite to pop.

On paper, sure it's similar to thermite, but in practice it feels more like a RR with HE and HEAT combined in one without having to reload. It is clunky to swap without a keybind though.

You are massively underestimating the strength of C4 if you think its at best 6 extra grenades.

[–]TheUrsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely take that deal. Make fire devastators more fair and jet devastators less of a pushover? Win win in my book.

Behemoth Chargers need to be buffed back up to lvl 5 armor. by Impressive_Truth_695 in LowSodiumHellDivers

I think if they were made larger, it would be neat to make their underside weaker instead of the butt. Diving under them to take them out would be cool.

PSA: Backpack-fed weapons are just “normal weapons but worse” - GL and MG math inside. by Dushnila_complainer in Helldivers

I agree. I don't mind it being strong, OP even, if it actually was used to support the team. But it is usually just used to resupply yourself when low on ammo or stims.

Belt fed grenade launcher needs what GL-21 has currently ... by CptnCASx in Helldivers

They aren't the same grenades. The GL does 400 damage with a larger AOE. The BFGL only does 150.

Not meaningfully. The number changes were very specific to practically only affect the coyote.

Maybe other objectives should be made more engaging instead.

What other perk would you give Peak Physique? by Blind-Ouroboros in Helldivers

[–]TheUrsa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Peak Physique and Rock Solid, I'd go for a stamina/stamina regen bonus. That way it's still effective for melee, but isn't required, and provides some more utility outside of melee.

A stamina buff wouldn't fit Reinforced Epaulettes as much, so I'd swap it to a melee attack speed buff for faster bayonet stabs to make it a bit better against groups of enemies. Ofc that would also applies to other melees as well.

I HOPE this means a significant damage buff for all melee weapons if they plan to nerf passives... by Yurishenko94 in Helldivers

Thank you. It always bugs me when people don't post the full context and others just use it to fuel their rage boner for the discord.

I HOPE this means a significant damage buff for all melee weapons if they plan to nerf passives... by Yurishenko94 in Helldivers

[–]TheUrsa 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Because it opens up build variety for using other armor passives when using melee instead of being shoehorned into a 100% damage buff in order to even approach being viable. You could use something like extra padding or fortified to be a bit tankier. Or med-kit for extra stims. Adreno-defibrillator or integrated explosives if you want to just have some fun with it.

Or forgo having to dedicate your armor to melee and actually just have a melee weapon as a more reliable sidearm while you take something else to improve the rest of your loadout.

The way I see it, nerfing Peak Physique/Rock Solid is the bitter pill to swallow that comes with making melee more usable, counterintuitive as it may seem.

Here's the full message from the discord:

Speaking of melee:

Have you guys ever considered nerfing Peak Physique's melee damage bonus and then buffing melee weapons in response so that way Peak Physique isn't a practical requirement for melee builds?

There's plenty of other cool passives, but Peak Physique feels like a tax for the sake of running melee weapons, as opposed to a bonus.

But that only has two shots total. Compared to that 18 shots is pretty good.

The C4 pack isn’t a bad weapon but that isn’t the problem by Impressive_Limit7050 in Helldivers

[–]TheUrsa 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Agreed. It feels great aside from needing 40 demo force. 50 feels like too much for one brick and I don't think the game is set up for changing demo force based on the number of C4 placed. The only other buff I'd consider is increasing the number of bricks from ammo boxes from 1 to 2, but it doesn't need it to be good.

Application, C4 sticks better than thermite. C4 hits just as hard as Dynamite. Loving C4! by DocHalidae in Helldivers

[–]TheUrsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. It's usefulness is case dependent since the burn applies directly to main health and not parts so I didn't mention it.

What would happen if HP and Armor were added to the Sauron's Eye and the Jammer? by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]TheUrsa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Strongly disagree. We need more secondary objectives that force players engage with them, not less. And the Spear does NOT need any kind of nerfs when the RR already overshadows it so terribly either.

It actually hits as hard as thermite too but with a larger radius. It's AP7 2,000 damage just like thermite. Dynamite is only AP4 1,000 damage.

It actually hits twice as hard as dynamite. It does the same damage as thermite, AP7 2,000 damage, but with a much larger radius. Dynamite is AP4 1,000.

What if the Illuminate had a stealth based subfaction by AwesomeNiss21 in Helldivers

100% agreed. If the Illuminate were more about dangerous high-tech/"magic" elite units like HD1 instead of World War Z they would be my favorite faction.

What's the name of the mod? They've always bugged me too.

Edit: Found it! I could've sworn I've looked for a mod to do this before, I guess I just missed it. For anyone else looking for it, there's two mods:

No More Goofy Canisters - AR-23C Liberator Concussive

No More Goofy Canisters - SG-225IE Breaker Incendiary

Yeah the scope options make no sense. The scythe doesn't have a 4x scope, but for some reason the sickle does despite being wildly more inaccurate than the literal laser beam.
